yeah I know that. I have ripped FP's out of many subarus...just not the baja

Can anyone else answer my question more exactly? (should I take just the bottem out or should I take the whole seat out? plastics too perhaps?)

Hey Fang, mind if I hit ya with another question.

The guy is now saying they won't have kits until the 18th?

Any reason why I can't (or maybe I should say SHOULDN'T) just call other dealers to see if they have any and take it somewhere else?

Would they have already entered the VIN in the system and designated a kit for my car for that dealer?

You can try and ask other dealers if they have the kit and if so, schedule with them.

i also made an appointment last week and when i took it in for the recall today, they came back and told me they didn't have the part in stock and would have to order it, really wish they would've check if they had it when i made the appointment and not wasted my time.

You can ask them to do what I do. Verify with the parts dept that there are parts in stock and pull one and have your name on it.

Recall completed on Wednesday at Lee Subaru, Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Just a tad over 1 hour from the time I pulled in until I left. Not a scratch on anything nor any fuel smell. I was able to time the fuel in my tank such that my fuel light came on right as I pulled into the shop.

It doesn't take that long. However if they are like me, they may need you to drop the car off so it gives them flexibility with other appointments. We have been doing 20-25 cars a day for all sorts of repairs, services and recalls with only 3 techs.

My guy should have the parts in - I missed a call from the dealership the other day but whoever it was didn't leave a message

Of course, I didn't bother calling back since I'd JUST FILLED UP THE FREAKIN' TANK AGAIN ANYWAY

Got mine fixed a couple of weeks ago; the dealership said it was located under the back seat, so there must be some sort of access panel...

Hey guys, quick question

I got my recall notice by email a while ago from Subaru for my 05 Baja Turbo.

I went to my dealership on friday and they told me my car was not affected by the recall as it did not fit in the serial number affected by the issue, they even showed me the documents about the serial numbers affected.

Should I believe the dealer or the email from Subaru?

Call Subaru. 1-800-SUBARU3 (1-800-782-2783)

They obviously thought your VIN was included or they wouldn't have sent you a notification.

FWIW on my notification they do not list VIN numbers, they simply say "a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2005 & 2006 model year Subaru Baja vehicles."

I had mine replaced last week. No smell thankfully cause it was close to E. However the subaru tech wasn't the brightest bulb in the bunch. He was confused that it was almost out of gas. I was like really, you'd prefer I topped it off? As it was even the 1.7gal left was a lot in the tank there.

Recall finally done - stunk like fuel at first, but one brisk drive home with all the windows opened seems to have solved that...

still waiting on mine... too busy at work... got the fuel filter delivered at the parts department (and in my possession now) so they can change the filter while they are in there (they said they would do it free)

Wink full tank

My tank was almost full. I requested that they make the install anyway and they did! Very little gas smell and very quick, about one hour for the service. My dealer is RK Subaru in Virginia Beach, VA I just purchased my 2005 Baja with leather and I love it. It is much better if the tank is half empty or more

My wife gave it to me as a Christmas present. I have been wanting a little pickup and this is wonderful and the TURBO, WOW! Our second car was a 1988 BMW 325i, which we are giving to one of our grandsons.

Just had mine done last week, and when I took a look today, I found the tech had broken the mounting tabs on both sill trim pieces on both sides, cracked a speaker grille, gouged the top of one of the door panels, and put about a foot long rip in the pad that covers the metal underneath the seat bottom. Gotta meet with the service manager tomorrow.

Have a Nice Day? recall. they still have not called me!!

i have been waiting for almost two months to hear from my dealer here. i was in there 2 weeks ago and they said i was next one in line to get the recall done. since they have to order the part. is this thing a ghost or what?

i mean really is that hard to get this part! i can get parts for me 88 gl sedan faster than this. and it is hard to get parts for.

i have read some of the post here and i am not sure i even want them to touch my car. considering the last time i was in there the tech let the impact socket walk across the wheel.and it is a painted wheel. then tell me it was there before he started work on it.

the same dealer that sold me the car with almost bald tires on it and complained when i bitched about it. no gas smell for me at this point. hmm do i want them to touch my car, at this point not really!!!

My dealership had the parts in stock, but I'm still not done dealing with them. I finally got a call from them a couple days ago that they got the interior trim parts they broke when they did mine. I had mine done in December and they told me the parts would be in before the new year, but I didn't hear from them until last week. Needless to say I am

A local mechanic discovered that my fuel lines were leaking before I got the recall letter. I had them fix it, then I mailed a letter to Subaru because in the past I had brought the car to two different dealers for this. Even though the fumes were bad, both dealers did not find the problem . (one even said it may be the thermostat gasket leaking onto the the exhaust, ha!) Subaru agreed to pay for the repair that I had done through the local mechanic, the reply letter from Subaru stated they would 'help me this one time as a courtesy' . Then a couple months later I get the recall in the mail, I take it to the dealer anyway and they perform the repair for the recall. I've noticed fumes still every time it gets cold. To make a long story short, today I popped the hood and the lines going into the engine are soaked and covered with gas again . I am taking it back to the dealer tomorrow. I dont want to be driving to work like this: Anyone else had this problem?
