Default Question.

Ok so right now i have been to a couple auto-x events and have been having a good time but realized im not competitive at all because i have a vf-39, up pipe, down pipe, sti intercooler and a tune, and the only suspension i have is a front sway bar. So far i have been running in street tire/street mod. I was glancing over the rules and i was thinking i might be able to run street tire/BSP because it says something about your allowed to transfer parts from other models but the STI is in BSP and the wrx is in ESP. So would i be correct that i could run in BSP and possibly be a little more competitive than in SM or do they consider them completely different?

WRX is still considered an ESP car for now, and even if the '08-'09 cars get moved, you can't run the VF39 on the '07 and still be legal for *SP. SM it is.

You really want to look at some springs/struts. There are a lot of options out there, but virtually anything is going to be better than the stock suspension you're currently on.

The other thing you're going to want to do is think about some autocross schools -- either one put on by your local club, or if the Evolution or SoloPro autocross schools are being hosted near you, consider attending. You might think it's pricey (usually Evo or SoloPro run about $200-250/day), but it's seriously one of the best investments you can make it getting faster.

Good luck!

+1 for the Evo School. It was worth every cent to spend the day with the experts and even have them drive your car to show you what it can do with a good driver. I'm struggling with being a newb at the moment too; the driver's the biggest factor for improvement, but suspension is always a great investment too.

Focusing on the driver requires a lot of patience with yourself and you have to resist the urge to blame the car. Good luck! (And yeah, SM it is, unless you can get that TD-04 back on and tune the car for it; you do get to up the boost in ESP though which perks things up quite a bit...)

Yes.

And if they were to put the sti's and wrx's on the same line you could ud/bd between the 2 models. Or just start with the sti.

As others have said, the key thing is practice not car mods. Imagine if someone said they'd played golf a couple of times and realized they weren't that good because they had the wrong clubs.
