Default K&N / resusable air filters vs. gas mileage

Came up mostly empty though search and the intake FAQ for this specific question.

Over 10 years and about as many cars, the only car I've had a loss of mileage while using a reusable filter was my 2003 WRX, about 2mpg's (foam filter). So I've held out thus far for my 2007 WRX, but I'd like to get back to a reusable filter - since I'm otherwise about to buy my 3rd $15 OEM filter at what would have been the total cost of one K&N. Not at the expense of mileage though.

Quesion is: have any of you recorded a change in gas mileage in your WRX while using a drop-in K&N air filter and how much? Or other type of reusable (please specify). My car is stock and my last tank was 26.66mpg mixed.

Thank you!

The only air filter vs mpg test I know of:
http://www.metrompg.com/posts/air-filter-part-1.htm
http://www.metrompg.com/posts/air-filter-part-2.htm

Even then it's still not on a wrx.

I change my air filter every 30k. $15 over 30k miles is... $0.0005 per mile.
