I'd love to, but I've got serious control issues. I can't stand not having any control of the car.

to anyone thinking about this, it is really fun times. i co-drove for a year a few years back and it is a lot of fun. just have to be sure that you DON'T get car sick. if you can read in a car while in the passenger seat you should be alright. to be sure, have a someone drive you around and take some corners pretty hard while you are reading. but it really is good times. good times.

like Wild west that is coming up. it's $400 to enter, and it's going to cost about $200 in fuel round trip for the service rig. time commitment, i'm looking for someone to get into a groove with. i don't want to be bouncing from co driver to co driver learning their style. but i'm only shooting for 3 rallys a year, maybe more of $$$$$ allows. |

When do the rally's typically take place, on the weekends or what? Also, what time of the day are we talking about? Morning, noon, night, all of the above?

Heh, I'm about as far away as it gets, otherwise I'd love to do it.
That and I have $0 in my name right now, due to being a college student. |

Funny you mention Dougs car. I wanted to buy it, but I didnt know it was for sale until after it was sold. Its funny because he was trying to buy my blown WRX motor for his new car, while I was looking for another RX-7 project. Neither of us knew what the other had, lol.
OP: I used to autocross my 85 GSL, and at one point I simultaneously owned 5 RX-7s. An 84 GS, an 84 GSL, two 85 GSL-SEs, and an 83 GSL. I still have the 83 GSL and the 84 GSL. The 83 Im actually looking at getting a new motor built for it soon. Im just going to run a street ported 12A. I have the Racing Beat street port Holley intake, Racing Beat street port exhaust, Holley fuel pump, pressure regulator, pressure gauge, etc all new in boxes, along with a radiator, hoses, ALL tune up parts, Black Magic electric radiator fan, etc just sitting new in boxes waiting for the motor for them. The 83 GSL its all going into used to be running a Weber 45 DCOE, Racing Beat exhaust, Carter fuel pump, etc until it was stolen, stripped and recovered after I lost an apex seal and had to let it sit over night on the side of the road. It was towed away by a Geo Metro of all things, blown motor and all. Obviously it was gone when I came back with the trailer the next day. I ended up finding it myself after about 4 days in a back yard close to where it was stolen from. Anyway, I wish I had the commitment for this. I know the cars VERY well, and I would love to ride in a rally car. My cousin actually "knows" Dave, and is building a rally Corolla himself, so it would be cool to get into the scene too. He keeps bugging me to turn my 84 GSL into a rally pig, haha. Quote:
Good luck with your search though! ~T.J. |
