Yes folks, my stereo system is now installed and has power..
![]() I finished up last night aroud mid-night. I think I took my interior apart about 3 times in one evening. Kris, I want to thank you for all your help with this long project, and for the phone tips last night when things did not work. I will tell the story here, instead of e-mailing you. I am not ashamed. ![]() So, I got the car all together the first time, and had music from the rear speakers, the tweeters, and the sub, but no door woofers, both sides. I called Kris, he told me to check the wiring at the crossovers (out comes the radio), and to try the battery test. The battery test does not work, so off comes one door panel. The speaker wires are hooked to the speakers in the door, humm.. I look at the soldered extension connection that were done at Ken's last weekend (under the dash now), and the soldering is fine, I just taped both bare wires together!!. I felt like such an idiot. Well, I taped them separatly, and now the front door speakers work. I adjust the amps, put the car back together including the rear seat. Lets go for a ride! I go for a ride and the left front speakers stops working. Out comes the rear seat, and the connection for the RCA are checked again. All is good, speaker works. I put the seat back in. Hey, were are my pliers? Between the seat and the amp board! Doh...My kind of night.. Thanks again to everyone who has helped along the way. Edit: I got 29.5 inches (of trunk space )Pics are coming soon.. Paul G. Man, I'm disappointed, Paul. When I read "It is finally alive!" I thought maybe you had resurrected the Olds.
![]() Congrats on the stereo install. That's one thing I've still never done to a car, but I think both vehicles will be due for upgrades this year. Pat |

Sounds like a night of Homer Simpson's "doh's"
I ran into snags doing my front speakers like the speaker contacts hit the door frame and when I turned on the stereo I would get a pop and the speaker would go dead.. hehehe. Easy fix though. So Paul, why didn't you install a trap door on the board so you could hide stuff? hehe Hey, stupid question. Have you tried to get to your spare tire yet? - Ken |

Pat, funny you spoke about the Olds because I am in NJ now looking at the covered car and missing the sound of the Flowmaster 2.5" Dual Exhaust. It would need much more than a weekend to run though, it has not moved in 4 years I think.
![]() Ken, the spare tire is not an issue at all. I hope to put some pics up tonight. I had the seat out again today and adjusted the amps. It does sound very good. I am very happy with the results. Thanks guys, Paul |
