Moving them, not sure where tho... Suggestions?

Glove box is too far out of the way. Maybe inside the center console? I wish they were just wired so I could put the dials somewhere and have the control unit hidden away somewhere... I seriously might just smash the thing open, desolder everything, and extend the wires. Then I might put them along the headliner or by my right knee.

My Hella's just came in too :-D.

How much depth is on the back side of that? I like the idea but I'll have to see how much flexibility I've got w/ the location/spacing/orientation of them once I get it all busted open.

ive pulled on mine quite a bit being that ive ran my defi wires through there, my radar dector down the side of the center console and tucked back, but under that panel....:
1-10, 10being alot/very
flexibility-5
spacing- depends on how far back you go, because the tranny hump stays level, but the piece grows upwards the farther back you go. the closer you are to the shifter side of the panel though...id say about a 2, farther back maybe 7.
orientations- your idea about resoldering the circuit board would probly be best being that it would allow just the dials pertrude at a flush angle. otherwise, im not sure if you would even have enough room towards the back.

with the circuit board and the clips in place...its about as deep and the stereo right? its been about a year since ive opened my center area up.

ill keep the thinking cap on, as i like how youre starting this, pretty unique. i already have my gauges and pods but this is definitely for the stealth guy.

subydude02, i've been wanting to make something like that! a dead pedal that covers over the side and down to the floor, a lot of dirt and crap gets all caught up in the corners of the carpet

i dont think they would be good by your right knee. youd keep hitting the ac button with your leg.

another idea along with your headliner would be something like...how a tahoe has it. make a pod so it doesnt hinder the lighting and that would probably be straight. out of the way, clean and you can have it face whereever.

im usually pretty good with this kinda stuff. so i can get a better idea of what you have to work with do you have a pic of whats behind the controls? is it just the 3 knobs with wires coming out or are there mechanical controls behind it as well?

+1 thats exactly what i wanted to do with my rf t212d2 but my dam magnet is huuuuuge. i thought about putting holes in my back deck lid and let the box ports vent up through there since i dont have a folding middle portion but thought...with that much air, pushing up constantly, how would my rear window like that??

Nothing special, but cheap and functional.

Just got a strip of aluminum and got creative with a vice.

I killed this particular lip driving in the snow and replaced it with a CF piece.

I was thinking about this just due to the whole "leg getting in the way all the f'n time" issue.

I'll take a pic of it tomorrow.

The design is finished and looks siiiiiick (IMO, of course). Will post pics tomorrow. It's on my work computer and unfortunately Pro/E won't load unless I'm on my work network. Stupid licensing.

Subiedude02, nice workbench. How thick is that maple and what kind of vises are on the ends? If you're in Greenville you're probably a member of the WW's guild down there. Great facility and nice bunch of people. Is Horizon Lumber still doing okay?
