Default Question about JDM intake and intercooler

Hi guys, I'm new to the Subaru engines and I just picked up a project car that came with a JDM Ej20 turbo engine. This is going into a 1965 Porsche 912 with a 911 RS body. I'm going to be buying a bunch of stuff from Outfront Motorsports, these are the guys that build the sandrail subaru stuff. I'm getting one of their polished intake manifolds and I have to send mine in for a core. I noticed my manifold looks a lot different than the one they will be sending back. Is my manifold any better than the standard USDM one?

Also they told me I don't need to run an intercooler and I should stay around 8psi of boost if I don't want to kill the motor. They say it should be good for only 220hp. This seems very low to me. Especially with all the smog crap removed and a standalone ECU. I mentioned I had a factory liquid to air intercooler and I was told not to use it. I would really like to use the intercooler since I already have it and I think it would work better than an air to air in a rear engined car. Are these intercoolers any good? Also 8psi sounds really low to me, can't these engines take at least 14psi with an intercooler?

Thanks,
Craig

i would run the intercooler, it was designed for one, plus cooling down the charged air is always a plus.
also the HP # is about correct, but you can always upgrade!!!

Yeah, I think I'll run the intercooler.

Does anyone know anything about this intake manifold? What is that valve to the left of the TB? I've never seen that part on any USDM manifold.
