Default Redline Time Attack South Carolina Motorsports Park

Tomorrow we are packing this:

This:

and this:

Into the black truck (Well two of the three)

And going to this:

Ron will be driving the Black "RA SPEC" Impreza in the Modified AWD class. Alex in the Pleasure Evo, Unlimited AWD and Bill will again be wrenching on the unlimited RWD "240rs MAXI" turning the dials for Ramana Lagemann who has graciously decided to help develop Bill's blue beast this season by piloting at Redline events.

We leave mid afternoon on our 900 mile journey from Boston to South Carolina, probably driving halfway tomorrow and the second half on Friday. We'll be joined by Jeff Ricca of 240sxmotoring.com tomorrow morning and he'll caravan with us after DSG's Matt Koestner tunes his 240 for maximum maximum attack mode. He races with Bill/Ramana in the unlimited 2wd class.

Some predictions and random thoughts:

The trip takes 22 hours each way. Our truck goes about 60mph on a good day. The upside is that we can only barely touch the national speed limit, downside is that it costs a few hours each way.

CMP looks awesome. I predict that it will be one of the best courses of the year for Redline.

Ron will join the bikini contest in some manner or another.

This car and driver just signed up for Ramana's class.

I'm glad that professional teams are getting involved in this now. It's going to help make shops like ours a lot more competitive and in the long run more knowledgeable. It should be an interesting weekend.

We'd like to thank our primary team partners and sponsors for making this possible. Without their hardware, tires and knowledge this trip would be for nothing.

BFGoodrich- Supplying our unlimited class cars with R1 DOT-R tires
Tomei- for engine technical support and hardware

Also we need more subarus in street class... You might break even or even make profit from racing since Subaru is paying handsomely in cash

if there's 2 subies, 1st gets $300
3 subies, 1st gets $300, 2nd gets $200
4 or more subies, 1st gets $500, 2nd gets $300, 3rd gets $200

so come on out and try to win some money as well as trophies!!

I've considered coming down there to watch since it's fairly close to home for me. It should be a fun track for you guys. Just remember to stay left at the kink to avoid "the hump" It'll ruin your day in a hurry.

And you're gonna have quite a fight on your hands with Cory there. I've seen him in that Autometrics Porsche during a PCA race.... dude is fast as hell!

Cory texted me yesterday, he thinks he will have his work cut out for him with the AMS Evo being there.

I can tell you that Cory runs 1:33s with old tires on the car.. that isn't slow.

(who lives 30 miles away and will probably stay home unless someone needs a driver with a few hundred hours at CMP)

Jon,

You should come out and give me some tips. LOL! I'm showing up on Sunday and I have never driven this track so it should interesting to say the least.

We'll be there with both our Unlimited car and our Street car.

Thanks
Phil Grabow

I may come out, I don't know.. I was going to go autocross, but haven't changed anything on the RS, so not sure I want to spend the $200~ to go Autocross and not have something new to try.

I will see how I feel, it's hard to go to a track and not drive.

It's only $250 to run the Redline event for Sunday only and I'm sure you'll get more seat time than at the autocross.

Yea.. and none of it worth it for an autocross-only car getting ready for Solo Nationals.. the Hoosier A6s are overheated in 70 seconds of running anyway.. :-)

If the entry were lower I might think about coming to steal the $200 prize money, but I am not going to enter just to run. (I would rather save the $ to do an SCCA National)

Well you would make 4 Subarus for the Street AWD class if you sign up. If you're thinking about stealing some prize money you better sign up The winner could take $500.

Leh and I will be there sunday... not running though just hanging out and watching. We were going to race but due to scheduling Leh is at Watkins Glen for the Rolex race and won't be back in time for the RTA.

I have a feeling Cory is going to upset alot of time attack'rs.

I wasn't sure you were coming out of the sand when I saw you go into turn 1.. and that was about as much damage as I have seen in a "simple" off (without hitting anything) Did the car do ok once you guys bypassed the Oil Cooler?

Jon
Without an oil cooler i could only do a slow warmup lap and 1 hotlap before the oil temps would get scary hot, so i did a single lap and pulled her into the pits.

That sand trap was bumpy, somehow the tow hook got bent in there.
