Default HELP: Any people with the ALaddin security sys. installed?

Ok, I bought the Aladdin A-2000 alarm that has remote start. In the INSTRUCTION MANUAL it says that it will not start the car unless the car is in neutral and the ebrake is on.

When I brought it to a local shop the guy was worried about it because when he looked at the diagrams there are no wires that connect to the gear shifter or ebrake.

so the question arises, How the hell does the Aladdin system know if it is in neutral & the ebrake is on? Is it just BS? Thats wat the guy thought and wouldn't install it for me.

He even called the tech support line, talked to 3 people including the head technician and even the owner. He asked them over and over , "How does it know if there is no wires??" and basically everytime they would say , "It just knows".

w7F?? Anybody know the answer? Anybody with it installed?..stick it in 1st, remote start it, and see if it'll start....

Man...where do i get this installed....

thanks 4 any help.. I NEED IT!!

This is how it knows, you park at your stop, don't touch the [foot] brake and put it in netural. You apply the e-brake, remove the key, get out with the engine running and shut the door. Then you arm the alarm and it shuts the engine off, now it knows the car is in netural. It will only remote start if this has happened and no other sensors have been triggered in the interim (ie., doors, hood.) So that's how it knows, perfectly safe if installed per the manufacturers instructions. If you start messing around you can isntall it in an unsafe fashion.

Edit If there's no ebrake wire than it can't "know." I guess it just assumes it since the car would roll away if it weren't (and you'd figure that out pretty quick.) Even if there is an ebrake wire that's no guarantee since it may not be applied hard enough.

OK, I'm gonna take the flame-bait... How do you take the key out, while leaving the engine running?

The alarm has a built-in turbo-timer function.

Default I have it installed differently

i have aladdin installed. Like other folks said. the "proper way" from the manual, it requires you to shutdown in specific steps in order to remote start the car.
There are other ways to install it to make it remote start anytime. but you will need to borrow some wires (say dome light aux wire).
I also think it is possible to tap to into Nutrual Position Switch on the ECU to make it safer.

Even thou my aladdin just died this past weekend (after a little over a year ) I still think it is a good alarm. awsome range. I gonna call up the tech support to see why it's not programming my remotes all of sudden. if anyone had this problem before and fixed it some how let me know. Hate to drive in valet mode. knowing my rex isn't protected.

so lover, how much did you pay for installation?

So if you don't follow the specific instructions to remote start the alarm WONT start? How does it know this? What does it do if you DONT follow the instructions and try to remote start it?

Also, I was quoted $140 for install, b4 he found out i had a manual car. Apparently he had a mishap b4 involving a car that started in a garage while it was in 1st. He wont do it again unless he is absolutely certain he knows wats goin on with the technicalities of the safety feature...

and as a last resort, how hard would it be to install the remote start feature seperately?
