Still waiting on mine- for anyone who has gotten it though, did it happen to come with that nifty NASIOC sticker we were promised way back when?

First off, the magazine isn't shipping from Redmond, it's shipping from Kentucky. Secondly, OH YES IT CAN. When you send a letter it goes first class mail. When you ship a magazine it goes bulk rate fourth class= not a priority and it can sit, for weeks, in several different distribution centers before it goes out. This is just the way it is.

You only got the sticker if you signed up for the promotion. Did you sign up for that promotion? Not everyone got a sticker. If you signed up but did not get a sticker, CALL!!!

I can't read a DVD on the toilet, which is where I like to unwind and read a magazine after a long day at the office.

The content was decent, but covered pretty much the same stuff I could have found on the internet in less time than it takes for me to drive to Barnes & Noble and pick up a copy, if they had any.

I can't offer any feedback regarding the issue itself, but I am as disenchanted as many who have posted before me. I realize the industry as we know it is gone, but it is rather difficult for those who have subscribed. I'll be receiving my copy in the mail about two weeks after my wife receives it at home, and then I'll have to grab my DVD player to "read" it. I got it-- you guys are doing what you can to sustain, but this is tough after SCC vanished.

Travis' story from the other thread about the dude carrying issues in his ruck reminds me that I'll no longer have easily-accessible car info to pass the time by. But then again, I have been waiting for a new issue for most of my deployment anyways...

Based on some discussions I've had with frustrated subscribers and on comments on this thread, I'd like to pose a question. For those of you who are unhappy with the format change (which seems to be the vast majority of you), would you rather Subiesport simply vanish into thin air and go the way of SCC, Turbo, etc...or would you like to see Subiesport in some other type of capacity, be it online, DVD, iPhone, or whatever? Before you answer this, let's just say that hypothetically, it's just WAY too expensive to actually produce a print mag, so assume that a print mag is not an option. This is just purely my curiosity, and most likely will have no bearing whatsoever on future issues. I'm just curious to see what everyone's solution to the problem might be.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, I understand that people paid for a print mag and that they expect to get a print mag. No problem with that...but would you rather not have any magazine in any form whatsoever if you can't have your print mag? And, if you still would like to have a dedicated Subaru magazine but print was not an option, in what format would you like to see it?

Just because I'm curious and I don't mean any offense here whatsoever, but where on the Internet did you find info on PIA's STI Forester swap, Subiefest on-track coverage, and a video of Tim Bailey tuning a UTEC in-car and explaining what he's doing and the problems he was trying to correct through the tuning process? The new Legacy review I can understand since a lot of places have been covering it, and Drivingsports did cover the rally, but what about the others? Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough, but all that stuff was new to me, and I'm on the Internet all day long.

I would like the Print Mag i signed up for,

If that wasn't an option, i would have never signed up for it, I don't have a DVD player so i don't understand what they would want me to do with the DVD, should i go by a friends house to watch it???

I would rather the Mag die then be a BS dvd that i can't do anything with

Also my Drive Mag was like 26 pages long and no ads

Your frustration makes sense and I understand it...but you'd rather see the magazine seriously die so that there's no dedicated Subaru magazine at all, no matter if it's in a format that you'd actually be able to view (aka not DVD)? I can totally understand not wanting to pay for something you can't use...but you'd honestly rather see the magazine just die altogether? That just seems a bit extreme to me.

Also, comparing this to Drive is an unfair comparison. Drive is not an independent magazine...it's put out directly from Subaru of America and is as much marketing for Subaru than any ad you'd see in any magazine. Plus, since it's published by Subaru themselves, you're not going to see ads in there for aftermarket parts or shops...that'd just void your warranty

I will give SubieSport my remaining money instead of asking for a refund to help them with the DVD as show of support to them and my local community (they are two blocks down from me)but, I will not renew. If I wanted DVD content or on line mag, why should I pay when I can get that information via Trunk Monkey, or various other on line articles for free.

Also as far as format, if I can't have a mag than I will just have to resort to reading Ikea on the pot because bringing a computer or dvd player in there is kind of hard.

I don't have a DVD player. I am deployed in Iraq. I would have to borrow someones computer to watch it.

I still havent recieved my magazine though...errr, DVD I guess.

Although I am not objecting to the idea of a DVD, I prefer to have the magazine. I have seen the DVD, so I am not going toss that idea out the window....yet.

I do not/will not want a refund either way, but a magazine is way more convienant for a break, or a deployment, as I don't regularly carry around a DVD player with me.

Whatever, at this point I am just hoping I get something.

Makes perfect sense to me. I would suppose the way for any mag to make it worth it over free online sources would be to offer exclusive content that can't be found elsewhere. Obviously, that can be quite a challenge, so that's really going to be the big question going forward as far as I'm concerned.

I have every copy of subysport i ever got, i still go back and look at them, I like the fact that is all subaru mag, don't get me wrong, but if they aren't putting out a Print mag, i could really care less if they make it or not since like other people said you can find the info online for free.

Wow what is your job in the military? How can you not have a laptop or portable dvd player on a deployment . Movies and games are key to deployments and killing time or unwinding from a long long day. I'm out here as well in Afghanistan though. I like the hard copy but will take a copy in digits if need be. I haven't got mine but being out on deployment mail is really slow. Times are changing and the newage is everone owns laptops or portable dvd players at least.

I liked the mag. It was not worth the months I waited, and certainly didn't seem to satisfy, but you know what, after all the crap that has been thrown and all the dust has settled, it is just okay. I am okay with the fact that I am essentially receiving two issues that equal the content of one, especially if they come out on a regular schedule. To be honest, I didn't hardly read or watch the stuff I got online, I didn't know what to do with it. I am going to wait for the whole pack to hit my store and buy it the way subiesport should be.
But, I will tell you what ticks me off, the mods used my awesome title to conglomerate all the hate in this forum and then separated my title and body by 20 some posts. The whole setup no longer makes artistic sense. My limited abilities have been cut off entirely.

I am basically an electrical engineer. I work on all types and sizes of generators, electrical power grids, as well as HVAC repair.

My DVD player broke (damn sand), and my laptop is a note book without a dvd rom. It wouldn't have been an incovienance had my dvd player not stopped working. I will be buying a external dvd rom for it soon when I go on leave, so I am not hating on the new format...too bad.

I know my son will love it. he has always liked my subiesports, and if anything I will stay subscribed because it will provide us some guy time together watching it one another.

Your new subscription will be shipping pretty soon Im assuming.

I still havent received my subie sport yet but I would still like to interject what I think about this situation. I'm saying what i feel and Im not dragging subie sport through the mudd ect. I dont want a refund, I'll probably still watch/read whatever I'd rather spend less and read it online than pay more and read it online.

I think more than anything is that this kinda took people by suprise for a few reasons

1. We have been waiting for quite some time now, some what impatiently because "Subie Sport is going to redesign!" and "The Magazine is going to be Great and you'll all love it!"

So other than your magazine I only subscribe to 2 car magazines. Hotrod which hasnt changed in years, and Dsport which just had a major redesign that took 1 issue. I like dsport magazine alot. I like Subie sport as a magazine alot. Dsport includes dvds with magazine thathave alot of content. now your switching to basically all dvd format.

2. DVD format is peachy keen. But subie sport was being hyped up about how great the redesign will be. I was expecting an already small magazine redesign to include more tech stuff, more features of everyday Joes cars, some more of the badass subie race cars out there. More content. Not to be " The new subie sport is on its way give me feed back your going to love it!" "Oh btw the magazine is only 15 pages.

So I guess what Im getting at is will I continue watching subie sport? Probably

Could this have been a better transition than "We are going to redesign the magazine into the best thing since sliced bread!" ? Yeah by letting everyone know 6 months ago that the reason you wont be getting your magazine is that instead of a magazine your going to get a movie. Then I htink all would have been fine.

Now I still havent received my dvd so I will watch it eventually if it comes in the mail. But I think now with a 15 page magazine you might aswell quit doing the magazine all together and focus 100% on the dvd's and their content. then offer acheap dvd in the mail bi monthly or watch it streaming online.

Good luck.

I admit I was shocked at first by how thin this issue was, but I was kinda excited about a DVD. I popped it in my computer and was pleasantly surprised! I love the magazine, but seeing video is so much more in depth than still pictures and text. I loved the PIA forester and the interview with Steve. The rally footage was awesome too! Please more in car views, as that really gives you a sense of how fast they are really going. I also loved the Legacy tuning with Tim B. I was just left wanting more when the motor blew. I thought we were going to go right into the motor build, but I guess I will have to wait. I would love to see more Tech/How to videos on maybe engine assembly, or even quick tech tips from different shops on how to tackle common problems when working on our Subaru's.

I think you guys are doing a good job of staying in it when the times are tough, and I think we owe you for all that you have done for the Subaru enthusiasts. I will continue to support you guys in subscriptions and look forward to more DVD's and Driving Sports videos!

Keep up the good work and quality video coming!

Sorry I've been gone for a little over a week. Some great feedback and thanks to everyone posting their thoughts.

The real reason for keeping the magazine along with the DVD:
1) Ads, yes, there are those.
2) Can still go to newsstand
3) Magazine could get bigger in the future
4) Still have toilet material (yes, this was part of the actual interoffice discussion)

Now, whether or not the printed portion stays or goes in the short term (as long as Subiesport exists, there exists the possibility of coming back as a thicker magazine.) depends on the constructive feedback of our readers and advertises and how they choose to vote with their future ad and subscription dollars. We're currently taking each issue one at a time.

My Barbie Dreamland is a 100 page magazine with a full-length DVD in every issue. But, more realistically, we could look at a 32-64 page magazine with a DVD in each issue. That could certainly possible... once accountants stop sitting on invoices for 120 days+ and the industries meager revenues start to flow once more. (not just us, this is impacting all publishers this year.)
