Default Airbag connectors for 04 WRX seats

Hey all,

Im looking for a picture of the airbag connectors on the bottom of the 04 WRX seats. Im going to assume the 04-07 seats all have the same connections, so any year in that range will do.

I am looking into putting these seats into my legacy GT, but want to know first that i will not run into any issues with the airbag system.

I have found many threads about 08+, but almost none about 04-07.

this is what the connections on my legacy look like, If you cant grab a picture, but can tell me if the connectors are the same (specifically the right most one) that would also be useful

I don't think the WRX got airbags in the seats until 2006. There are still connectors for the seatbelt and seat position. What year is your legacy? They may have gotten airbags sooner and if you have power seats there's your 4th plug. Passenger seat may have an additional plug if it has the passenger detection bladder.

They guy selling them said they had the airbags, but I guess I will have to look into it more, thanks for informing me of that.

I have a 2006 legacy GT. I have the heater and power seats + the airbag. i know the airbag is the two right most plugs.

It looks like I may need to find a set of 06 seats that match my year, as the chances of cross compatibility are greater.

thank you for helping me out with this information.

Nah you don't HAVE to match the year. If you want plug and play then yeah, but you can get rid of the airbag light with a resistor (usually some for sale here on board) and the rest should match. You may have to swap seatbelt buckles over if they changed the plugs for your seat belts but typically as long as the bolt holes for the seats line up, it will work.

I was able to put my JDM Spec C seats in my 06 by swapping over the buckles and, putting a resistor in the airbag connectors, and swapping over the passenger bladder.

You know what, they may have the airbags but not the passenger bladder. That may be what I am thinking of that started in 06. Definitely double check!

The seats that I have are now a mix of plugs and sensors so I can't really help in that dept, sorry.

the thing I am most concerned about is keeping the airbag functionality. I dont want to risk my safety for better seats.

I saw that the 04-07 seats seem to be plug n play with the forester, but i have not found anything about the legacy

edit: I really appreciate the help you have given me pezcore

2006 passenger front seat has a side air-bag and a sensor-pad in the seat. The sensor-pad is used to determine whether the person sitting in the seat is below or above a specified weight threshold.

2006 driver front seat has a side air-bag and a sensor pad in the seat. It also has a proximity sensor to gauge how close or far the driver is positioned from the steering-wheel mounted air-bag.

Driver's OEM seat: keep the key in the ignition with the car running. Open the door and then manually lock the door using the manual interior door-lock switch and the computer will open only the driver's door.

Same scenario, but with the door open, you use the electric door-lock switch. The computer will unlock all four doors.

Aftermarket seat: Proximity sensor is installed and so is a resistor to shut-off the air-bag warning lamp due to the fact the side air-bag no longer exists. Keep the key in the ignition with the car running. Open the door and manually lock the door using the manual interior door-lock switch and the door will lock.

Same scenario, but with the door open, you use the electric door-lock switch. The computer will unlock all four doors.

02 - 05 GD airbags are the same (2 front airbags and both front seat airbags). Passenger front seat does not have the active weight sensor and the drivers seat does not have the seat position sensor. When you get in a collision both front airbags go off even if no one is setting in the passenger seat.

Starting in 06 the system changed. Drivers seat has a seat position sensor and the steering wheel has a 2 stage airbag. The distance the seat is away from the steering wheel determines which stage is deployed. The passenger seat has a active weight sensor so if no one is setting in the seat the front airbag and seat airbag will not deploy.
