I think you have to pop the clips on the bottom and then sort of pull it up...Also if you are going to paint your tails. A. Don't B. If you don't listen to A, then you need to use nightshades red, not the craft store garbage in the first post of this thread. C. Be very careful, do it in a fairly dust free environment and go slow.

Anybody try using Plastidip on tail lights? I've seen people use it on tail lights but wanted to hear some reviews.

That's exactly why I want to use it. It comes off so easy. It's like spray on vinyl overlays. I don't have time to do this now but I might give it a try in a couple weeks. I'll post my results.

there is only one color of smoke...

If you used red plastidip you would block all the light

I am having similar issues with fading although it's just localized to the top edges. I used metalcast for the red last year which turned out pretty well but I think my clear wasn't thick enough or a good enough quality.

It sounds like Nightshades is what I'll be trying for the red and maybe Krylon for the clear? Has anyone tried a different clear?

That's the combo I used. I haven't had any fading, but I only washed the car once ever since I did it. My pics are a few pages before, 36 and 37 to be exact.

Just remember to add plenty of clear, 4-5 coats. My car spends roughly 15-20 days a month under the sun for 8-12 hours, so my guess is that fading could be caused by frequent washing.

Sounds like I'll be trying Nightshades and Krylon, thanks cianuro!

I'll be putting extra clear on this time too!
