I used duplicolor metal cast also. They came out amazing! Honestly if you didnt know they where painted you would think they came that way. I used two light coats and two heavier coats for a total of four coats. Then I unmasked the reverse portion and used automotive clear from work.

Was searching for red overlays.... Then found this.....
I feel more comfortable taking on this than the overlays. And I want it now!!! So I know what I'm doing tomorrow... Lol. And thanks to the op. |

Nice! I love how it all looks. Gonna try this Monday! Did anybody try to do his with the lights still on the car instead of taking out the lights??

I would recommend pulling its so easy. But at the bare minimum at least pull the lights on the quarters takes 2 min tops.

Man, it looks so complicated taking the lights out. I'm spraying the car with the lights still on. I'll post pics when I'm done!

I'd suggest taking the time and courage to pull them off. It's simple. I'm spraying mine right now. No more black.

Finished product before buffing. I'll wash the car and shine them up later.

I also had great results with metalcast. However my results in removing the inner hatch liner were not great. I ended up breaking the side inner taking off the lower.

Make sure it's warm enough. Don't rush it if the temperature isn't right you would be better of waiting. Just my input!

It's in the 70s right now. Pretty cool for a Florida night. Don't think it should be any problems but I felt a few drops of rain so I might have I wait till tomorrow morning

Well finally got it done. From far it looks actually pretty good. But up close it's sort of hazy and doesn't have the gloss look. I ended up only taking the side lights out and just sprayed the rest while still on car. I might have to wetsand and re clear them. What's the best way to do this to achieve the gloss? Besides it being kinda hazy I think they came out alright.

I used the duplicolor metal cast and mine came out incredible they are perfect cant even tell the where painted. I can't tell you on the stuff you used. Also make sure you get pretty solid coats of clear otherwise they can look hazy. I would recommend a dust coat then a heavy coat or two.
