Default Wiper fluid motor doesn't make a sound?

Hello again fellow nasiocers. I wasn't positive which section to drop this in since its not overly specific to any type of subaru I'm thinking...

I hope this doesn't sound dumb but I noticed today my washer fliud doesn't spray when I hit the button. I don't even hear a motor trying to turn. So my simple question is will the pump not even turn on if there is no/not enough fluid or do I have an electrical issue to chase down?

I have a 06 (STI) if that matters... Maybe its a new 'feature'

Are you actually hitting the button or pulling back on the stalk?

Hitting the button. It makes the blades go so I know the button works just not hearing anything from the motor.

Um, put some fluid in and find out? The other day when I ran out I think the pump still tried to turn, but I could be mistaken. It's hard to hear some of that stuff when your car is loud.
