Know my friend Hiram?

Default 09 WRX turboxs CBE.....anything else needed?

I was going to put the SPT exhaust on my car, because I know there is no tune needed, it comes factory if you want it.

Does anyone know personally about the turboxs CBE?

Can I run it on a stock engine without consequence?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can run any CBE, they are typically only noise makers. You will get some power, but the noticable power will come from a DP and tune.

I actually just got mine in today and installed it. Some small fitment issues but nothing to call up the company and complain.

I took off the stock cbe and laid it side by side. The sheer size difference and weight of the muffler its insane. The stock muffler weighs as much as the complete txs cbe.

Mounting. Hung the muffler first to see how it lined up. Its perfect. Loosely bolted the new piping together, then ran into 3 problems.

1: The Pipe is so large now it actually sits against the heat shield under the drive shaft/shift linkage.

2: The stock mating flange at the cat has a different size hole drilled than on the stock cbe than on the downpipe. I had to either drill the hole bigger or tap the hole to thread the bolt thru and then back it up with a nut. I did the latter.

3: The stock mating flange just behind the cat has a large bevel to it so the new pipe wont sit "flush" but when bolts are tight, no "air movement" is coming from the connection. (tested with a smoking piece of paper)

Looks pretty good and sounds great. A little rumble at idle and talks to you when your driving "sporty"

Does your license plate say "SNAKE FART?"

I also have the TXS CBE on my 09. Ran into similar problems but luckily my good friend works at TXS. Helped me with the install and was done in about 25 minutes. I ended up completely removing the heat shield because there was some rattling due to the pipe rubbing against it. Sounds great has a nice rumble and plan to add their downpipe and midpipe here soon.

Yep the plates stands for SnakeFart. In texas we only get 6 characters to use. It was the best way I could spell it.

Can't wait to get me a bellmouth downpipe... ill look for the txs version if they make it. Do they?

Also I was suggested not to remove the heatshield due to a possible problem with a soft rubber bushing on the shift linkage. Not sure it that problem was addressed but it still concerns me.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not liking the fit and finish of this product too much. These are the concerns I have that only the fine people at NASIOC can answer. So, I guess I'll keep looking. I may just do an SPT exhaust and be happy with myself. No fitment issues, but less burble.

sorry, dont mean to hijack the thread. i also have a turbo xs cbe that makes an incredible amount of rattle on a cold start. does removing the heat shield cause any problems?

OP, i've had the spt cbe and i am much happier with the turbo xs. its louder but not overwhelming and it doesn't hang low to the ground. just fyi... good luck.

Heat shielding is probably your problem howwierdo, you can remove it with very little consequences. Or you could just try bending it away from the contact points. Also you might want to check your hangers to make sure the exhaust is seated properly.
