Default Engine problem driving home (08 WRX)

So I was looking around at all the other forums on the 08 recall, but only found stuff about the knocking, which I am not experiencing.
[Searched 2008 cel, 2008 recall, 2008 stop sale]

I'm driving home tonight, I have the cruise set to 60, I'm in 5th, my windows were down, and suddenly my car starts slowing down.
My cruise died, I lose my traction control and of course get the dreaded CEL.

So I slow down more. I turn off the car and turn it back on a few times to get the codes to "clear". By clear i mean CEL goes off and I get cruise back, but this doesn't work. So now im weary of driving the car cause the last thing I want is spontaneous combustion. anyone have any experiance with this?

One more thing, I have an SPT catback, K&N Drop in and stock tune.

you can't tell anything from the cruise dying - ALL the DBW Imprezas disable cruise control when a CEL condition is detected

you need to get the trouble code (aka 'DTC') read with an OBD-2 scanner and diagnose from there

you're best taking it to a dealer and having it taken care of under warranty

Si he code I got was P2096 which could mea any number of things from what I looked up. According to the dealership though, it was my #1 bank was running lean. The thing is before I got to the dealership, my light turned off. So I have no clues as to why this happened. any thoughts from anyone?

I guess that could be it. But it's been a few hundred miles since I washed my filter last. It seems weird that it would turn on like that 2 weeks afterwards.
