Default What do I need to hit 350-375 HP?

Stock 2005 WRX Wagon

1. HP at the [COLOR=#F82C70 ! important][COLOR=#F82C70 ! important]WHEELS[/color][/color] (whp) or hp at the CRANK (chp)?
whp

2. What type of dyno are you going to be shooting for this number on? Dynojet

3. If possible, tell us what shop it is. Someone may know how high or low that particular dyno reads. not sure

4. Where do you live? If not a well known city, what is the elevation? Near Newark, NJ

5. What kind of gas will you be using? (octane level) 91-93

6. Are you opposed to a FMIC? No

I guess I should restate that. I would eventually like to get to 350-375, so I would like to know what steps I should take to get there over time.

well the budget is just key because you could do a decent amount of turbo applications, injectors, intake manifolds and the like and achieve the same WHP with a agressive tune or a mild tune. I hope that makes sense

Try stage 2 or a vf/16g swap and go from there.

honestly just look around the forums...learn what most people do to go "stage 2"

best starting performance mods are all bolt ons ie:TMIC or FMIC, full TBE, exhaust, header, pulleys, tuning, exhaust manifold, TGV deletes....

eventually you will move on to bigger injectors, better fuel pump and a bigger turbo.....among other parts (i'd go forged pistons for 350+)

Head work rocks too....cams and a mildly built head does help

might wanna consider meth injection, FMIC, downpipe, injectors, fuel pump, upgraded tranny, oil cooler, forged internals, cams, turbos

I wouldn't classify TGV deletes and a front mount as bolt-ons. A bit of custom work is involved. (cutting, grinding, etc.)

I'd watch out about putting that much hp on a 2.0l engine. I've read threads and post on here saying you should only go about 300hp on stock internals so I would watch out for that.

You're not going to be making that amount of power without building both the engine and transmission. I'd lower your goal to 300 whp unless you've got deeper pockets.

On pump gas, you should be able to see 350 Whp with a 20G, and larger injectors, say 750's to be on the safe side, and either a larger top mount or a front mount.

Now, the next question is what do you want to do with it? On a 2.0, with this turbo, you will have substantial lag until you can get that turbo spooled up all the way. If you want to horse around on the street, you'll be miserable. If you want to crush cars on a drag strip, maybe that's acceptable.

I'd worry about the tranny at that level. Seems like the WRX 5 speed reaches it's capacity around the 300 Whp mark. Some people run more with no trouble, some run less and blow a gear. It's risky.

Listen to this guy. ^^^

I recently went from ~210 whp to 373 whp on a mustang dyno and quite honestly, the car is a bit much to handle. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it is purely insane.

375awhp =/= 375rwhp It feels much, much faster.

Agreed, Stage 2 will bring your wrx from the approx 170hp to the wheel, (225hp to the crank) to around 225hp to the wheel. An additional 55hp is crazy quick. You don't really understand what 250hp is until you actually experience it. The STI is even worse. While having 300hp to the crank. A stock STI only puts out a "paltry" 225hp (approx). Make sure you really know what you want. Do you want to have the meanest track car out there or simply be able to hold your own with most things on the street while maintaining a daily driver status? Figure out what you want before you get yourself in deep with no end in sight.

That's a lot of power. From a reliability standpoint, I'd want to start with at least a 2.5 and perhaps look into a different block to start (Cosworth?). Build from the inside out so the engine at least has a chance to survive. Perhaps PM nhsilversti. I'm pretty sure Ted's car is running at or near those levels. Check out his time trial run. Note how he's pretty much able to spin all 4 wheels at just about any point on the track. The dog box is music to listen to.

You can do it on an 18G. You just need to know what you're doing. I'm on stock block and stock gears for 15 kmi now with no problems so far. (Knock on wood). But stuff will go wrong eventually. They are right tho. Do it in steps. Stage 2 first, and keep that for a lil, then step up.

I'd recommend contacting Rich and or Cleo at Precision Tuning in Lakeland, NJ. They are one of the few shops in the Tri-State Area that specializes in Subaru High Performance. Their website is. http://www.precisiontuning.com
