Default Auto Union name to return with the merging of Porsche and Vw

Quote:
The Auto Union name is seen to return with the merging of Porsche and Volkswagen once again. Two supervisory board members expressed confidence that the deal would be completed shortly and that eventually, the Auto Union name would be adopted. Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn had provided assurances that Porsche will still be an independent brand. The board member also confirmed that questions over valuation had already been resolved. The merger is expected to be finalized at VWs board meeting today with the ratification of VWs purchase of a 49% stake in Porsche. The board member added that the amount of the deal will be decided after due diligence. This is an ironic turn of events as Porsche had originally sought to take over VW; however, its attempts to do so led it to incur more than 10 billion euros of debt.

What does this mean for Audi? Will Audi still exist (I would assume so!), but keep the Auto Union 4-ring symbol, with another brand called "Auto Union" with the same symbol?? I thought the 4-rings represented the 4 marques of Auto Union, Audi being one of them....

I'm sure it'll be fine. Look at GM, worked good for them. VW, Porsche, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Bugatti...

God can only hope they will bring back a sub 3000lb boxer bug that doesn't shy on sharing tons and tons of insperation behind the 60 year old design.

Heard the Deutschlanders are collaborating with the Italianos to make the new Lambo Benito. Supposed to be very powerful, but it runs without an ECU, just an uplink to the Berlin mainframe, which will run the cars directly.
