Your NASIOC Administrator Looking for the right sub for my Carbon Fiber Sub Box

Hey Guys,

I have a really awesome subwoofer box wrapped in CF its also a very unique shape too! I have had this box sitting around for 3 years now and it's time to put a sub in it. Rather then cutting and hacking it up with any sub. I'm trying to find a sub to fit it.. ( the box weighs 6lbs )

Looking for a sub that fit these dimensions.
Here are the dimensions.

Inside hole is 10"
Bolt to Bolt is 10.5
Max dept is 8.5"

I have a hookup at JL Audio but from what I'm reading on there dimensions they just don't have anything that will work.

Thanks,
Chuck III

I understand your reasoning for finding a sub that will fit, but I'd probably concentrate on finding a sub that will work with the airspace you have available first. Unless you don't really care how it's going to sound and its more of a cosmetic thing.

Great Point. I have a WRX Sedan,

JL M6450 6 Channel Amp
JL C3 Speakers in the doors ( to go in next week )

I just want it to sound great and work. I'm not to picking. Once in a while i will crank it up just to annoy my friends & family as a gag.

What's your box volume?

And why is it shaped like that? Was it a custom box for a different car?

A good way to determine volume is with packing peanuts and a 12x12x12" box...

I've got the PERFECT sub for you, but I doubt it would fit (it's a 12")

17lbs...!!!!!!!!

EDIT: looking at the box again, it MAY be possible, with some modding of the box...lol..

I have the KFC-W3012DVC 12" 4-ohms Car Subwoofer. I swear by it. I also have it mated with the kenwood 1700W mono amp. Amp turned to 50% it bangs! Awesome response and spl for just one unit. You can get this sub for under 100bucks. Check it out.

As long as the box isn't wood an even better way (and easier) is water.

1 gallon = 0.134 cu ft

with a 10" center cut hole your most likely looking for an 11" sub...Another problem i see is that your box is make out of plywood, not mdf
I'd bet someone makes an 11" sub, however i've never seen one

Yeah i have done some research and it seems that Kenwood has an 11 inch sub but its 4-500 bucks

I think i might have to look to trim it open an inch all around.

Focal has this one.. Honestly I'm not a audio guy too much.

A 12 inch sub doesn't use a true 12 inch hole. If I recall correctly it was 10.93 inches for my Kicker sub.

Edit, it may have been 11 1/8"

The compass I made out of some scrap 1x2 to draw the hole got a little beat up and I can't measure it very accurately.
