Default Calling on Warrenty savy persons.

So i am asking for a freind, He just picked up a new 2009 WRX. I have never had any dealings with dealerships and so I am unfamiliar with thier rules. Whats the rules on mods they can do without voiding them? Thanks guys. and yes i looked up threads for this.

for one your warranty is not voided, the claim is just denied, the following aftermarket mods will most likey get you denied for powertrain or drivetrain warranty work depending on dealership and region of SOA: intake, any engine tuning/management, header, down pipe, turbo, and bov, basically anything that directly bolts on the engine. He can do coilovers, cat-back exhaust, wheels and tires, sway bars, strut tower bars, and other cosmetic/suspension stuff.

I have the COBB AP, full turbo back, and numerous other parts on my 08 and I was still able to get my motor warrantied when it broke.

like I said it depends on dealership and region of SOA, when I tried to get my warranty work done to the RS for a bearing in the transmission they denied me due to aftermarket headers, intake, and cat-back exhaust. They said the increased power was what caused the bearing to malfunction. I laughed and then they tried to charge me $80 service fee for troubleshooting. And I told them to screw off and they gave me my keys back and I drove off without paying a penny. This all happened in El Paso, Tx closest dealership to Holloman AFB, NM and it was the only one around for 300 miles. So I waited till I got here and by then my warranty was up so I paid $1,400 to get it fixed but that also included a new clutch and resurfaced flywheel.

They really just look at the mods you have done, and then try to determine if your mods caused the Subaru part to fail. .... Engine mods won't cause them to not honor a seat breaking... And so on

SOA is a bunch of idiots though, the mods I had on my RS would not cause a bearing to start going out, I'd break a gear before anything else would happen but they still wouldn't cover it.

disagree with suspension mods.

if you have coilovers they will not warranty much for suspension/drivetrain. i was denied an axle warranty at 33,000 miles and then had my car reported to SOA so i cannot get anything warrantied for suspension/drivetrain at any subaru dealerships.

also with the engine mods i have, no way will anybody warranty anything for motor/etc so.... i have no warranty anymore basically.

again, it all depends on the dealership (screw you nate wade!)

I think its all on how you handle the situation Brody was able to get his engine fixed under warranty and he has a full turbo back and a Access port and Nate Wade fixed his car under warranty. and its not the dealership its how SOA wants to handle it
