Default I finally got some new shoes!

So after a year of racing on some Brigestone Potenza "H" rated tires, I saved up enough coin to finally buy some real tires. I bought the BFG G-Force TA KDW's in a 225/50/16 "W" rated. I will be mounting them on the stock 16x7 Enkei OBS wheel (+42mm offset). They will roll under my 98 Lego GT wagon with full 04 STI suspension, Whiteline sways, end links, and lateral links.

What can I expect from this tire on the street and on the track? It had pretty good reviews, but I have been out of the tire industry for about 2 years and unfortunitly, and have brain dumped a lot of my tire brand knowlege. Does anyone run this tire? If so, how do you like it?

I was really hoping it would help shave some time off of my lap speeds in the auto-x races I compete in. The "H" rated shoes (205/55/16) kept folding, and didn't last very long at all. According to the calculator the 225/50, and 205/55 are within .2" of each others diameter.

Thanks for any replies.

size is perfect.

Not sure why your stock offset is +42, confused by that but my experience is more late model impreza.

Anyway, I used a set of KDW2's in 225 width for about 5,000 miles. They're good street tires and surprisingly good in the rain. They do, however, get really greasy when you heat them up. Probably not the best auto-x tires but they'll work. Auto-x is a very short low speed course. If you get into longer racing where your tires will fully heat up, don't use the KDW2's.

These are just the KDW's, not the 2's. They look similar to the traction TA's. The wheels are +42mm off set because I have the 4/2 pot brakes.

Racing is auto-x. I thought I mentioned that. Sorry.

I have them on my wagon, and I think they are pretty great. I don't auto-x, but we did some before/after tests w/them. Like max speed on a corner, panic braking (withe the KDWs I could not lock them up w/ABS disabled), etc. Really nice. I have had them on since spring and am showing minimal wear.

They work good at the drag strip, great in the rain (hence KDW = 'k'ondition 'd'ry 'w'et), and surprisingly enough halfway decent offroad even in some swamp stuff.

Well I am glad they are good tire. Based on the reviews at the "rack" (not where I purchased them), they seemed to fit the bill pretty well considering my options.

Thank you.
