I know there are many threads comparing the 07 and older STi to the new STi. I made this thread specifically about the STi Limited to 08 (and 09) STi. I've searched and searched and never found a thread or anything on the internet comparing these 2. I am looking into buying one of these. I love the look of the Limited and it looks great from every angle but the 08... not so much. If I am to get the 07 then only in SWP. and only OBP for the 08. I won't be tracking the car or anything. Just a daily driver but do plan on slowly going stage 2/2.5ish (maybe 300-350whp max). I am just looking for some opinions and what reasons there are to get one or the other.
Things I like about the 07: leather heated seats, sunroof, looks, love the looks Things I don't like about the 07: Interior material, interior design, look of gauge cluster compared to 08-09, limited space in car (no split-folding seats), bad stock tune (although i've read that can be fixed with cobb accessport), overpriced (for used) since Limiteds sold for msrp when new, hard to find especially with low miles Things I like about the 08: SI-Drive, interior material, interior design, interior space, seems like a great daily driver (refined) Things I don't like about the 08: exterior doesn't look nearly as nice as the 07, paint (its cheap?), I am sure theres plenty more to add to the lists but I'll leave it at this.

You should get the '07 Limited if you can find one with low miles and a decent price.
<--- Love, it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru. |

Haha, thanks but I'm looking for non-biased answers. By the way how do you feel about your color vs swp? I find way more grey limiteds than white ones.

There were an equal number of SWP and UGM '07 STi Limited manufactured - 400 each. But I happen to have only seen grey ones on the road as well.

I would get the limited! I had one... I loved it!
The looks of it are just so much better than the 08! I just can't get past the look of the 08. I have tried and tried. Yep, all around I keep hearing it is a better car. But THAT look! UGH........... |

The 08 STI is growing on me, but I say stick with the 07.
1) Heated leather seats 2) best body style IMO 3) someone else already took the hit on the retail price so you'd be saving some cash with a low mileage one |

Personally I'd go with a DGM 08/09 Sti
But I'm totally biased. I own an 03 PSM WRX (DD) and an 09 DGM STi Quote:

I was also hoping for some incite on this as well. I'm caught between getting the limited or an 09 STI in Nov. I've seen some pretty clean limiteds recently near me at reasonable prices. In fact there is one on Ebay close by at $24,995.

When I go get a prostitute in my 07 limited they are cheaper! However: when I go in my 08/09 they charge up the arse!! Hopefully that will help......

I guess i'll chime in since OP really likes my car:
I too do not feel fondly for the 08's +. I don't doubt they are a great car, but the styling is just too disconnected from mine. I can look at mine and see impreza's from the last 15 years staring back at me . . . not so much with the new one. I love the leather, sleeper looks, the quality subaru choose to put in the car. Yes, its slightly smaller and crampt in the inside, compared to an 08. But there is no other car i'd rather drive. Ask my wife, ever few weeks I thank her for letting me get such a great car. Great in snow, rain, dry, you name it. I don't track or drag race the car, just some spirited daily driving. Yes, they are holding their value well -- good for me, bad for you, but hey, you should see what my 401k has done in the last year ![]() |

I had an '05 STi before the 08, and I have to say, I like the '08 better. It's by far, a better daily driving car. It obviously wasn't the '07 limited, but I didn't think they were all THAT different.
It's better sound proofed, looks a hell of a lot better on the inside, has the space and folding seats thanks to the hatch, and SI drive is great. Although, I'm apparently the only person in TXIC who actually uses SI-drive, from the reaction of my tuner's wife. ![]() It's also been said, and supposedly shown that the GRB chassis handles better with the usual handling mods. I never got around to messing with my '05, so I can't directly compare. Anyway, the '08/09 has all of the creature comforts added in, and they really class it up. The looks have definitely grown on me, too. There's something rather sleek and passively aggressive about it, and that's just how I roll. :P |

07 STi Limited for sure.
- Leather/Heated Seats. - Sunroof - No Roof Vane/Whale Tail - Looks a little more mature than other STi's. - Black interior - Enkei Limited Wheels - Black Brembo's - Fog Lights. I love the limited. Wish I could've found one in my price range. Not to mention, SWP is one of the best colors Subaru has done. I do realize the 08 STI has a lot of the same features as the limited, just stating the difference between the limited and you're everyday, regular STI. |
