Default moving from NJ to CO, advice needed!

hey all, I'm gonna be moving to breck/keystone for the winter season, and had a few questions.

1) I have a stg2 WRX, and am wondering if I'm going to be running super rich considering the air is a lot thinner up here. Do I need a re-tune if I'm only planning on staying until next summer?

2) Besides craigslist, anyone know where I can find a chill place to live who needs a roomate? I have friends moving out with me, but dont really want to live with them in their ****ty $995/month apartment in dillon.

3) I haven't really searched, but are there a lot of meets in the summit county area?

4) What are the best bars around? I just graduated school and am still in the bar-hopping phase, especially in a new town.

Thanks! Hope I meet some cool people out here.

Well I hope to see more people pipe up that live in Co. But I got a feeling they will tell you to see the Denver Sticky thread. There is another fourm that gets tons of traffic for Colorado. But welcome to the West.

I would do it. Base altitude of breck and kestone is around 9,500 feet. When I was driving in the eisenhower tunnel (mountain pass tunnel) the other day, I threw a CEL when I was really on it. I have an OTS cobb map, and after that happened, I told myself I was going to get tuned.

You are going to be in the mountains at the worst time when it comes to cheap rent. Ski season is big time money in CO, so it is going to be very hard to find cheap rent.

There aren't a ton of meets up there. Most of the crowd up there are weekend only, and they go up there for one reason in the winter, and that is to ski. Most of the people in the mountains have outbacks. There are tons of subaru people up there, but I dont think most of them are the types that go to meets. If you want sick subie meets, you have to come down to the front rage (denver, boulder, csprings). The amount of subies in CO will most likely blow your mind.

It depends on where you are. Frisco (breck) has probably the best bar scene (when compared to keystone or dillon). Most of the younger crowd goes to breck mountain because it has the best park, so breck has more of a younger crowd at the bars. As for which bars, the main strip through frisco has some good bars. I dont remember the names, but there are only a handful, so if you do a hop, you will find the one you like best. But unlike the ones in boulder/denver, you get a wide range of age groups during ski season. The best bars in the "area" are in denver/boulder.

Have fun man, colorado is awesome.

I hope you guys don't mind me popping in, I'm not trying to thread-jack or anything, but I also am moving to colorado soon. My wife and I will most likely be moving to the denver area and living in the second half of my brother's duplex.

Q1: In Denver, do they test emissions and how? Do they test the actual gas or ecu? (I have no cats but Iowa doesn't test emissions)

Q2: Is there anyone who can give me some ideas for a good company that needs an entry level financial analyst?

Q3: Do I need to join awdpirates.net?

Dragicon: +1...You'd be living on the main skiing traffic corridor in the state AT peak ski season.

Q1: Yes, on the rollers with an IM240.

Q2: Craigslist! I'm not accountant, but I see stuff like that in the want ads.

Additional: There should be some good ice racing in Georgetown this year if the lake freezes over quickly. BTW, Thank you for knowing how to drive in the snow before you move here! NJ should be good for that. During the first storm of the year, stay home and let the n00bs do Darwin's bidding.

Its gas. They even have these little mobile truck units that sit on the on-ramps and sniff the air as you drive by... if you fail, they snap a pic of your license plate. I think there are only about 4 or 5 of these machines (and one seems to be always in broomfield). Luckily, there are a lot of cones and signs that point out these little things, so if you are WOT as you go by, its your own fault.

Where in denver are you living? you dont want to make the commute across denver during the rush hour.. you will hate your life, and most likely try to end it a couple times.

You dont need to. Pirates is good for info on meets, local buying/selling, and some other general questions about the community. However, it never hurts to be a pirate member.
