Question SCCA Race Suit Spec. ???

What's the min. spec. suit that I can get away with for ClubRally???

I might have a navvie seat but don't want to spend too much to get a decent suit.

If the suit is SFI 3.2a/5 rated then you're golden (they come in two or three layers). If it's lesser rated, then you need to have a total of at least three layers, one of which must be nomex longjohns. When shopping around for a bargain, make sure you remember that the whole idea is to save your skin (literally) should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in a fire (it happens).

So you're going to go scare some wildlife, eh?

I've heard of people using Nomex flight suits for club racing, but I don't know anything about ratings and such. They're fairly cheap, at least.

I saw a RaceQuip one (3rd one down on the link page)

RaceQuip suit here

$299.99 doesn't seem that bad.

Why is rallying so damn expensive...

reviving an old thread...

i'm suprised no one stated to check out Demon Tweeks

Best prices by far, especially on OMP suits (sparco's are pretty good cost too). as far as I can tell from the rulebook (club/pro), you either need a FIA suit or the SFI one mentioned. or am I missing something???

on a side note, how tight is too tight and how loose is too loose of a suit???

oh, another quick side question here, what's a good place to get a name badge made to be put on the suit? just read the "rules" of the suit and it seems you even have to have your badges sewn on a certain way without losing the suits certification

Wait til you call them and ask them how much shipping from the UK is gonna be. The savings will quickly diminish.

Actually, not really... Example: OMP Trend. Local US Retailers sell those for ~$500, they sell it for ~200 pounds. Given the current conversion ~1.5, that's $300 + shipping. Shipping isn't that much ($20-$30). Plus they are very reputable. BIG cost difference. but that's only on "certain" items. If I were to buy a peltor helmet w/ the intercom builtin, there is virtually no savings. but the suits seem to be generally cheaper there (sparco and OMP)

I bought the cheapie suit by G-Force and am quite happy with it.
I had the name and blood type embroidered right on the suit by a local shop, didn't cost much but they needed about a week to get to it, so plan ahead. The shirt shop did custom shirts for businesses, sports teams, etc.
