FS: BC Racing ER Series Coilovers, External Reservoir
Up for sale is a set of BC Racings newest advancement in coilovers, the ER series.
I am local to BCR and this was one of the first sets installed on a USDM STI. So far they have been great, no problem whatsoever and the handling is VASTLY improved over stock. These are double adjustable coilovers with external reservoirs front and rear. Which means they hold a lot more oil than a conventioanl coilover and you can adjust compression and rebound independantly of each other for precise adjustments.
I had these custom setup with 8k/7k rates, and front AND rear camber plates. They are on my car currently and I have them setup for ideal ride height/looks and a stiff street damping adjustment. They can be shipped exactly as they sit so you won't have to do much adjustments when you install them on your car, just install and drive.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with these coilovers, no leaks, no noises at all and they operate as they did when i installed them. They have LESS than 3k miles on them, I just don't drive my car that much. It's a weekend toy. They are all street miles, no track days or off road excursions. I have 2 autocrosses on them so...like..8 minutes of cone dodging.
Why am I selling? I am going with a different suspension setup, and I don't need these sitting around collecting dust. They are currently on the car, but if I have a buyer they can be off and shipped with a few days. They are still under the BCR warranty and I know the guys over there, so IF you have any issues whatsoever it will be taken care of.
These will fit 05-07 STI's. They will also fit 02-07 WRX's and 04 STi's if you change out the front lower mounts, a 5 minute job A pair of front lower mounts can be bought from BC Racing for $100. Everything else will bolt up perfectly.
Here is a pic of my car the way it sits now:
Pics of the coilovers so you can get an idea of what they look like:
MSRP on these is $2250. And they come with a different spring rate. A pair of rear camber plates adds another $200.
I am asking $1300 picked up OBO. I will ship them if necessary, buyer pays actual shipping costs. I am located in Orlando, FL.
Here are the specs on the coilovers from BCR:
-Mono-tube shock design
-30 levels of damping force adjustment
-Pillowball mounts and adjustable camber plates
-Adjustable rear camber plates available
-Separate Full length height adjustable
-Inverted and Non-Inverted setups
-One year warranty
-Coilovers use 46mm pistons and 53mm shock housings, the enlarged shock cartridges with specially designed pistons and rods provide a wide range of damping force.
-Valves are constructed of special spring steel, which outperforms stainless steels and produces longer valve life. Valve stacks use a patented deflective system to provide more precise control.
-Patented concave lower locking ring, to prevent unseating
-Springs are made of SAE9254 high strength, durable steel. Compression tested at over 500,000 times with less than 5% deformation
-T6061 Aluminum utilized in spring locks and seats for high strength and lightweight
-Iron lower brackets on MacPherson struts to ensure rigidity
-Piston rods are constructed of highly polished steel to lengthen oil seal life and prevent leaking
-High pressure inner rod guide seals ensure a perfect fit for consistent fade resistant damping and long shock life.
-2 step coating process utilizing nickel and chromium plating to prevent corrosion
-Newly developed lubricant oil in all shock cartridges minimizes aeration and cavitation.
-An additional bearing beneath each pillowball mount provides a smooth action and prolongs the life of the pillowball itself.
From the write-up:
"Our newest and most advanced model yet is the ER series coilover. It features large external reservoirs front and rear, separate rebound and compression adjustment and a twin piston design. The external reservoirs hold much more oil than a conventional coilover, allowing the coilover to operate for a much longer period of time before overheating. The external reservoirs also house the secondary piston, which allows for the fine tuning of compression. This is the perfect coilover system for the person who wants to fine tune their setup using the separate, 30-way, rebound and compression tuning dials."
