Default Need some advice, Got a ticket, arggg. (Long).

Ok I will try to explain this as good as I can.

I was comming in from Eagle River. And I was going to "try" to make some runs on Artic Vally Road (That was probably the first dumb move, lol). Anyways. There is a Stop Sign right before you make a left to get on the "Straight Away". So I stop like normal, make the left hand turn. Start driving towards the Parking Lot for the Golf Course (I was going to turn around and then make a G-Tech Run). But on my way down I see 2 MP SUV's comming the oppisite direction. No biggie, I just decided to turn around at the parking lot and head home without doing any runs. So I am headed back, and they pass me again (Thought they came back to make sure I wasnt "doing anything"). So I keep driving minding my own business. They turn around and get behind me and turn on there lights. So I am thinking ***. But really thought nothing of it, like I said I figured they would just ask me what I was doing out there. They get to the Window and first thing I ask is what they pulled me over for. And they say I ran that stop sign. I ask him how could he have seen me run a stop sign when he was no where near me at the stop sign (Maybe I shouldnt have said that, but regardless I didnt run the stop sign, and he was no where near me, lol). So he gives me a $50.00 ticket (Ok that part doesnt bother me TO much). But then he said first said it was a 2pt ticket, then he said it was a 4pt ticket. That pissed me off. The thing is, if my calculations are right, I have 2 pts left for the year. Got a 6pt ticket for speeding not to long ago (That was my bad, thought I was speeding by 10mph, but it was actully 20mph, I had the speed limit confused).

Anyways, I need advice. I have never delt with "United States District Court" before. I really really want to contest it. Because it is BS. But I feel like I have no way to win, because I was alone, and he had a partner with him. **** I can barley even read the damn ticket, lol. So if anyone has any advice, that would be really cool.

Damn, when did MPs start giving out tickets that cost you points? It won't hurt to go to court and contest your ticket. It's your last resort and if they don't show up then you might have a chance. Sorry, I can't be much help. I just haven't got too many tickets.

The MP was just a ass. I am pretty positive that I am going to contest it. I just want to know why he would make somthing up to give me a ticket. He was probably just jelouse of my car,

ahhhhhh goodness. I contested a ticket last spring, the APD officer showed up though so that was the first problem, but I did end up talking in front of the judge, pretty painless, he basically told me that I could tell my story and he'd make a decision, or since it was a 4 point or less ticket that I could go to driving school on a saturday and have it wiped off the record. You might be able to look into that as an option, I'm not sure how having a 6 pointer on your record would be (even though I have one of those too, just happened after this first one) I think I have a total of 6/out of a possible 9----- You should definately find out about contesting it, and find out if the driving school is an option (it's pretty cool, I was suprised to see a bunch of people I knew there-- it cost $25 for the class, pretty painless, just have to sit for awhile and say all the right things when quizzed about for instance stop signs (which suck, I got pulled over for the same thing last summer, the cop said I ran 2 stop signs, even though I saw him for the first time when he pulled up behind me at a stop light.... which I stopped for, believe it or not..!!) ----------- anyway long story short, contest it and find out about driving school availability.. Good Luck!!

Well, first of all you get more points on your license than 8 or 12...so it doesn't matter, I believe you get 16?

Secondly, just go in...try to make your point that you in fact DID stop. Hope the judge takes your word for it. If I can get off of a $300 and 10 pts racing ticket, you should be able to get off a minor stop violation if you can just drill in the fact you honestly did stop.

Good luck

Damn you got off of a "Racing" ticket? Thats pretty lucky. And no this is how I was "told" our point system works on my last speeding ticket. You get 12 in a year and 24 every two years. So I dont know. I just know that I got a 6 pointer for speeding, and then this 4 pointer (if it sticks) that would be 10points leaving me with 2points left (Thats like ANYTHING). Yeh I will look into that driving school thing. But I have a total of 4 tickets now. 2 speeding both 20over (One happend about 2years ago tho). And then another "minor one" somthing like a unsafe lane change or somthing (Basiclly failed to use my blinker) and that was about 2 years ago too. The only thing is that has me I guess kind of "nervouse" about contesting the ticket, is that it is Federal. I would be going to the Federal Court House (At least that is what I gathered from it). My only hope is that the Judge will see that if I am going to court over a $50.00 ticket then somthing has to be up.

go and take a picture of the stop sign area...try to show that where u had to "stop" u couldn't see if there was any oncoming traffic so u had to pull ahead slowly...and that pulling ahead to see is what the mp's saw...that might help! and take the driving class on saturday at the place by the university center...they'll give back at least 2 points...it's worth it not to lose ur license! hope this helps!

Set a date at court, then change it a couple times saying you cannot make it because of work or whatever. In Alaska if the cop/mp does not show up it is automatically thrown out. Make sure you check not guilty on the back that is important. If they still show then plead your case. The judge should reduce it. I have gotten out of like 4 tickets in Alaska doing this. If you have any questions let me know.

To let you know, I have been to the Federal court before. It is easier to get out of those tickets then a state ticket. The judges know that the MP's can be A$$'s. I got a ticket on base for a red light. The MP was sitting at the light and was controling the light change. He turned the light Red when I was going though it. So he radioed he buddy and gave me a ticket for it. I got off on that one, even though both of the MP's showed and Lied out their A$$. You should be able to get off this one.

2.....They can give you points on your license if your on there grounds. In this case he was on Military patrolled grounds.

You could have just stayed there in the car till they walk up and then shoot them in the face. No ticket, no points....and you'll make the front page. Murder - 15 years
Lawyer fee - $150,000 +
Getting Sued - $500,000 +

The look on the pig's face when he realizes it wasn't worth the ticket he's about to give you. - PRICELESS.
