EXCLUSIVE! First pictures as the all new Focus finally hits the road

Quote:
t's the news blue oval fans have been waiting for! The all new Ford Focus prototype has finally hit the road. These are the first pictures of the newcomer. Set to go on sale in 2010, the third generation of the family car will take the companyís brand values to the next level. It gets a dramatic new look thatís backed up by a range of hi-tech small- capacity turbocharged engines.

Ford gave the strongest hint of how its upcoming models will look when it revealed the Iosis Max at the Geneva Motor Show in March (see Issue 1,053). And itís from this car that the new Focus takes much of its styling inspiration

Not bad. Looking forward to seeing the 2 door, though.

IBLookslikeaMazda3...

This has potential. American consumers are in for a bit of a shock when it lands here, I think. It's a big change from the one available here now.

From the rear view, it looks like it is pretty excited.

It looks like it has a hella huge front overhang, but even with the camo, it still looks like it has lots of potential.

You're right. That's odd.
I hope we get to see those "hi-tech small-capacity turbocharged engines" here.

conservative , but that'll work. digging the fender flares, and if ppl mean the 2.0L turbo motor when they say "hi-tech small-capacity turbocharged engines", I'll allow it.

So with the Fiesta coming out where does the Focus sit in the lineup? I honestly thought the Fiesta was phasing out the Focus.

So, like the first 3 (or so) years of the orginal Focus, this is a North American assembled Euro Focus with just a touch of 'americanizing'?

Looks good, but pretty derivative of current hatches. Was hoping for something a tad bolder and groundbreaking.

Is it coming to the US in this form though? Dont we apply liberal doses of poor taste to our Focuses?

Yes it will, Ford has clearly stated that the Focus will be a global car. If you don't believe it, just look to the upcoming Fiesta, and the Transit Connect (which is currently on sale now)

I don't know why but I like the camo'd version better than the real deal. Either way, bring it. The current Focus is SO out of date. It does show its close ties to the C30 inthe rear huh?

Anyone else find it amusing they took the time to cover up the front Ford logo, but not the rear?

Nobody in the general public has driven one of these yet.

You've driven the second generation Focus (the one that never came to North America). This thread is about the third generation platform.

If the USDM version retains those dimensions in the 5 door and comes with a 2.0 Econetic Turbo, I'll have 2 in the driveway next fall.

Saw the current Focus ST's alllll over Scotland and they are a ridiculously good looking car in person.

Will I be whipped if I identify with this car as a rally car more than I do with the GR8?
