Default Where can I get auto paint locally?

Playing dress up with a 1989 Ford Taurus SHO and need to find paint. Anyone know where I can get some paint? Also any suggestions on paint color would be nice too I know I don't want to do black. Someone already has a nice black one in the valley. This is just to learn how. Quality is not a must....yet. Lol.

Thanks

Oh, and once learn really well, I'll be painting the subie as well. So suggestions on a bugeye is also wanted ^^

I too like hi-tech but if you want to do a candy House of Kolor paint than head over to the napa on spenard. They were pretty cheap back in the day.

Napa on Dowling for sure.

Carquest on Commercial did, but I guess they don't exist there anymore? Shermin Williams on Commerical used to as well (those 2 6-7 years ago, so not too sure now)

/\ Hi-tech can be a bit pricey depending on what you want but they do have a very nice selection and good customer service in my limited experiences when dealing with them.

Okay, our next question would be, what do you guys think? Should we restore this car, or build it into a fwd rally car?

pimp the shizo out.

I have seen the black SHO out here and it looks nice. I know they were great cars in their day with the yamaha engines. (I think)

My bet woudl be do a hybrid retro restore with Rally flare, smoothed/custom rally lights integrated into teh bumper, ala outback style?

You are correct, it has a transverse mounted 3.0L Yamaha V6. Until the 2010 SHO, they all had it. Now they moved to a Ford twin turbo V6.

I had thought about something like a hybrid build. My only reserve was the sheer amount of electronics in the car. Power seats, automatic climate control, things of that nature. It would be a pain to gut it for rally. However, like you said, we could keep all of that, and just do some rally flair.

Also, we found House of Kolors at car quest in Wasilla. They even had most of the colors my wife was considering in stock.

89 is a good yr for them. the earlier ones I wouldnt trust....yammy built the top ends on the first few yrs, and then the bottom ends couldn't hold up and in 88 Yammy started building the whole set up i know that...ex-Ford tech (thank god). That would be a fun fwd rally car. They have some decent power as is, there are some things out there for em, heads, header, intake, exhaust, turbos, cams, the usual. I had a 92 in HS that was a blast, but the previous owner had built it mildly, p&p heads, headers, turbo'd so i dont know what a stock one feels like.

'96-'99 the SHO had a 235HP 3.5 liter V8.

Lol yea. True. I really didn't like the car before I got it, it's ugly and old, but a friend had it and sold it to me dirt cheap so why not. Well...I kinda like it now. It's super duper comfy, the gas consumption is not all that bad and it picks up speed decently, along with a smooth ride. So far no major engine problems. Only needs a water pump. A car that runs, yet lets us spend money on upgrades for the wrx is all green with me.

Also recently some jerks vandalized our jeep so we also need a car to drive while that's in the shop.

Oh, the main reason I'm painting it is so I can learn, not because I want the SHO to look good. I'll be painting it a few times before I paint the subaru.

Waiting on a package that (if it arrives) should allow me to get it back on the road by early next week
