Default My car :(

So i guess my car got backed into yesterday at jewel lake and dimond parked at the alaska club express. And supposedly the girl that hit it said she backed into my car......Really sucks, got estimates today and they said minimum for everything they can see to fix the car is around $4100 and because they won't want to open the door yet incase it doesn't close that there might be more damage then what they can see which means it could go higher. Estimated time it will be in the shop will be around 2 weeks which means extra $$$$ for rental car.

Mostly sad that this car was brand new and it's not even year 2010 yet.....also i guess i can't go to the autox this sunday which i was really looking foward too.

unless the door won't stay closed or you have tire/suspension damage... you can still autocross.

lol thanks for the positive note on the autox cause it sounds like it could pass but really won't feel comfortable or happy to see it run like this which means if i don't feel comfortable doing it then i might not do well at the autox this sunday

I don't see any way how there is $4100 of damage there. I did that same exact thing to a 2008 Dodge Ram this spring and it was $1700 damage. Took out the door and a little bit of the back of the cab.

BUT anyhow, that's what insurance is for. Her insurance will cover it.

I had the same exact thing happen to me a few months back (same door, and in a parking lot), but the guy took off. Door was replace and painted (along with quarter panel), it was pricey but not 4k!

Honestly my door was practically sitting inside my car after i ran into a firehydrant and the damages were not even close to that high. Looks like all you need is a new door and maybe fresh paint to match the car homie. DOnt stress it. Id open the door and check the damage for urself. THeres plenty of people who have done door installs including myself.

ya well the door needs to be replaced and all the electrical stuff inside the door like the power window/locks ect need to be replaced with brand new oem parts. rear side panel needs to be fixed, and repainted, and of course hours of labor. they say there could be possible frame damage but won't be able to find out until the day they work on the car.

The good thing is that girl was mature for her age (16yrs old) and left the note on my car when she hit it since i was inside the alaska club gym. I know most kids her age would hit in run. The dumb part on me is they don't want to put there insurance down cause they don't want her insurance to go up since she just got her license this month and i'm letting them pay cash......but now that i got the estimates which doesn't really include the internal damage on the car which might have more i really would like to convince them to just put it on the insurance. cause it might be more or less and i wouldn't want either one of us to be screwed over with this money situation fixing the car. The only thing is if it's under insurance my car will lose some appreciation for the reported accident, but hey stuff happen....

first off, where'd you take the car? get a couple estimates. Come to the autox and Ed and Nicole from Ed's Body shop will be there. They are a sponsor and may be able to get you a better price. they do excellent work, have them do all my work now, even repainted the front fender on the GTR.

Get some more estimates, because that's just a little high, and sounds a little full of crap from them too. New electrical switches, locks and such? I doubt it, especially since they didn't even open it up to see with their own eyes to know. Sounds like they're just trying to line their pockets a bit and will probably just stick your old electrics and window parts back in, which are probably just fine in the first place.

I took it to Markel's Collision Center. I know they do a lot of high class cars like mercedes and stuff but my thing is if there going to want to pay in cash which i kind of don't want them to do then i'll go to the most expensive shop for them to go to just to convince them that it's better off to just go with insurance. I really don't want to hassle them with money about my car, more if something else was missed and was charged more on the bill, and even more money for having them to pay for the rental car. I don't want to be on there case all the time asking for money to pay for things especially cause i really don't know how much cash they really have. it's just a lot more stress free for the both of us if they were to just file a claim on their insurance.

well, they may just pay with their credit card too. going through insurance isn't always hassle free. many times you can have more issues with the insurance co not paying or only paying a fraction or making you take it some other place they want. still, that estimate seems ridiculously high.

Atleast they left a note. Someone backed into me in my own cul-de-sac and didn't leave a note or anything. But that sucks man hopefully they come through.

Forget the fact that you don't know how much they have for a second.

She backed into your brand new car and left a note thats cool and all, but this is business and you deserve to have your car restored to "like new" condition. It is not you being a jerk asking for money, don't feel bad about it. It is part of them having to deal with the fact their daughter is now growing up and driving and these things will happen. You don't have to go overboard and over charge them but you need to make sure you are completely satisfied with everything before you are done with dealing with them.

They called me today saying they need a weekend to find out what they want to do as in pay cash or go through insurance, supposedly she hit 4 cars already so it's very hard for them to get it all settled and they need more time......idk this is really stressing me out right now i just want it done and over with, I hate seeing my car like this and it's all i think about.

If she has hit four more cars I would call the cops right the **** now. Don't worry about them thinking you're a douche cause guess what? This time next year they won't remember your name but you will still have your car. Call the cops asap and get that report filed before you get screwed.
