On my car right now I have stock wrx rims with 225/45/16 tires and if I turn the wheel all the way they barely rub the struts. I was looking at getting ALT 18x8 (+45 offset) rims and was wondering what size tires I should run that won't rub??? I have jdm sti pink struts and springs on my car now.

Bump... I know the recommended size is 225/40/18 but would I be able to put on 245 or 235?

i would go with at least a 235. i know fender clearance is tighter with the GC/GM body so a 245/40/18 might be too tall even with fender work and added camber. 245/35/18 would be a better size than 245/40/18 for sure.

I'd probably go 235/35/18 on those. +45 is nice on a GC but you don't have a lot of rear fender clearance. You'll probably have to roll as it is. 235/35/18 is a shorter tire which is nice. Limited selection and a premium for 35 sidewall but worth it if you really want wide tires and 18"s on a GC.

I think I have finally made my decision. I am going to go with a 235/40/18 Nitto NT-05 Tires. I have heard good things about them and that is the closest size to what I am looking for that they come in.
Edit: Or does anyone else know a good max or ultra summer tire around the same price that is better? (I keep changing my mind looking at all different tires )Last edited by corzy666; 09-01-2009 at 11:59 PM. |

how much are you trying to spend on tires alone?

yes a quick search would have answered your question but at least you didn't start a new thread!

If anyone was curious I ended up going with 235/40ZR18 Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110. I have read reviews that they are similar if not better than RE01R in dry performance and they are better than RE01R in wet performance.
Edit: Just my luck I just noticed that the $50 mail in rebate has ended Aug. 31st ![]() Edit my edit: They just extended it to November 30th ![]() Last edited by corzy666; 09-03-2009 at 02:13 PM. |
