Thumbs down Culver City (CA) Subaru

This is the letter I wrote to SOA customer support about my visit to this dealership.

Being very interested in the Impreza WRX, perhaps the
best performance bargain on the market today, I
visited Subaru Culver City this morning. I am
extremely displeased with the way I was "handled". I
arrived at the dealership just as they were opening,
so I was the only customer there and I still could not
get adequate customer service from the entire sales
team. The Sales Manager introduced me to the salesman
he claimed "had been there the longest". I told this
salesman what car I was interested in and that I had
never driven one and would like to take it for a drive
to assist me in my decision. He responded by telling
me that a lot of people come by to "take out The WRX"
inplying that he would not allow me to take a test
drive unless I planned on buying the car. However,
despite a vast sales fleet (of Hyundais, Nissans, and
Mazdas) there were only 3 WRXs on the lot, none of
them being what I had planned to buy. Over the next
ten minutes, several different salesman came over to
discuss the car I wanted. NONE of them were at all
familiar with the product line, showing me cars that
were not what I had asked for. They all went back
inside the office and for the next 10-15 minutes I
stood in the lot alone waiting for them to come up
with a solution to their "no buy, no drive" policy.

I left without having been able to drive in a model
similar to what I plan to buy and Subaru Culver City
just lost a customer.

I'm in the same situation as you. I guess I know where I'm not going.

Thanks for the headsup, RokketRide.

I think I may head down to Irvine sometime this week...or up to the van nuys dealer...

Keep me posted on your experiences.

Thanks,

-Kelly

I stopped in at South Coast Subaru to get some info like two weeks ago and they seemed like really nice folks. They are a relatively new dealership so I think they are trying to make an effort.

Being exclusively Subie also helps. Its tough shopping for a rex when you are surrounded by Proteges and Altimas.
