Post What does the warranty Cover?

Ok my AC is broken and the dealer told me that a rock must have smashed in to the condencer and all the fluid leaked out.

Would warranty cover this. They're a pretty good dealer but i'm just trying to figure out why they would not do this.

My previous deal was a pos and they charged me money for tapping the oem wire harness. This stuff really gets me mad.

I hope there is a way i can get this done for free.

BTW i have an UDP, intake, exhaust, and loads of suspention stuff.
thanks
larry

If a stone hit really did hole your condensor, then it's not covered, and rightfully so... same as the dealer won't replace your windshield under warranty if you get a stone hit on it and won't repair collision damage if you wreck the car.

But... I've NEVER heard of a condenser getting taken out by a stone-hit. I'm wondering now where it's placed that's it's susceptable to stone-hits (or did you drive over a rock?), and if that's not a design defect if it is, and then the dealer should not only replace it but they should be thinking recall... I assume you were doing something nuts and that's how it got broken, though.

If a stone hit it, then your comprehensive insurance will cover the repair. That's why I have comp with no deductible, it also covers fog and headlights, windshields and vandalism.

I'm not so sure comprehensive insurance will cover it... I still don't know where the condenser is and how it's susceptable to stone hits.

If you smashed the condenser by driving over a rock, then that's not 'act of god' anymore, that's your fault and it'll be collision insurance assuming you've got it and your deductable's not too high.

The condenser sits right in front of the radiator towards the front of the car. I can see how a rock could hit it and ruin it, warranty will not cover this. Obviously, this is a crappy situation, if it makes you feel any better, this usually does not happen. More than likely you will have to pay for it, if you claim it under insurance, the deductible and the increase in your premiums would not be worth the cost of the repair alone.

I went to the dealer earlier today and found out the reason my air conditioning did not work is because I had a hole in my condenser. It was caused by a rock. As soon as the tech told/showed, I remembered getting hit by a rock last week. It is not covered by the warranty. Anyway, just wanted to add to this thread. Crappy situation is right.
