R.I.P Colin! :(

Default I need some help from those that know TVs please.

Well my TV was stolen about a month ago.
I have not replaced it yet and need some help picking a new one as I dont know much about TVs. I can tell you what I want it to do, how much I have to spend, and what size I need.

Mostly I play video games (Xbox 360) and watch DVDs on it. I will be getting Sat TV soon as well.
I have to sit rather close to it as it will be in a vary small space. (Back of my Semi) So I will be about 3-4 feet from it.
It must be a slim type TV. Such as an LCD. It must work in bright light.
I need to be no more then 32" in size or it will not fit.

It needs to have the 3 RCA style video input and 2 audio input that was put on the first 360s. (Mine dose not do HDMI but I would like it to have at least 1 of them for later upgrades, 2 would be better.

It needs to be wall mounted. And needs to have a base as well. (Its mounted when moving so it dosnt get broken but not when used as the mount is way to high and cant be moved)

Needs to have a good remote.
And I would like it if the remote was not needed to work all of the TVs functions as I have a rep for braking them.

It needs to be able to be hooked to my 360, my DVD player, And a PS3 that will come later. As well as the Sat TV box that will be high def.

Last I MUST be able to hook a set of head phones to it. I have a vary nice set that I use so that my codriver can sleep while I watch TV less then 2 feet away. In fact I dont care if it even has speakers in it at all. As long as I can hook a head phone to it.

And I need all of that for around $300 before tax.

I live in MI and will likely buy it there as I can take it back if something gos wrong. Most likely in the Ann Arbor area as thats close to me.

Thanks for the help all. I'm on Bestbuy.com right now doing some looking.

Oh one last thing. I will not order this off the net. I must be able to go to a store and buy it. I dont care if it will cost more for the same TV. I have ordered things like this in the past off the net and it never works out for me.

Thanks again.

I have a 19'' Panasonic HD TV with HDMI hook up, a built-in DVD player, all of said inputs.

Very good picture, even without HDMI hook-up. Was about 300 dollars.

EDIT: It also has PC hook-up, with headphone jacks...

They are really not that much different. You don't need 1080p playing vid games. Any LCD will work. Go make sure it has headphones, the rca's and maybe make sure there are easily available non-remote controls if that's important. Ask a sales person....they might help you...or not.

i think for 300$ any old LC would be good. I mean, they're at least pretty good. Just go to BB or costco or whatever and look at the ones in yore price range.

or check in right around thanksgiving time, that's when the really good TV threads start

I'm looking to see what I can find on the net that I can buy at a store right now.

Sales people have not been much help so far.

Also the TV needs to be at least 22" in size and no built in DVD player. I have a vary nice BlueRay DVD player that I will be using.

Thanks!

I don't care for LCD's, I prefer my Panasonic Plasmas. But for my xbox 360, in the loft I have 32" Samsung 1080p. It is alot nicer than my Plasmas.

Also you'll want an LCD, because you can notice a little bit of burn in on the plasma, when you first turn it on. IF you play a game, or pause a movie or game, that has the same picture in 1 spot it will stay there for a bit, and be noticeable on a darker picture.

I paid 419 shipped for my tv around last november.

pick up a vizio from costco, it'll be cheap, and do the job just fine...that's probably the only 32" that will be around 300.

Look for 1080p and 120hz, that will keep you future proofed for a while.

1080p is unnecessary with the size the OP is looking at.

This5,
also if the TV has audio out but no headphone jack, get rca to female 3.5mm jack connector. This will solve your headphone issue

Edit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218038552900
This TV has everything you need and is 300 bucks

since this is going in a semi, get one that is LED backlit. a little more money, but consumes much less power. so when you are running off bats you can do it longer. i know most guys just let there trucks idle all night, but its still good to use less power.

That looks like it fits my needs. There are a few specs not listed I would like to see thought. Such as Response time and viewing angle. Ill do some searching and see if I can find these.

I never let my truck idle. But I dont have any problems with power. I have a gen mounted on my truck and the batteries I have are masave! I have 6 over sized deep cycle batteries (Like the ones on golf carts) that can power every thing in the truck including the roof mounted A/C, the fridge, and all my toys for up to 8 hours with every thing on high. A bit less if I use the oven or the cook top depending on what I cook.
(FYI my truck has an over sized sleeper on it. 100"L X 98"W condo II By AA sleepers. Its really nice compared to the stock sleeper on 97% of the trucks out here.)

Then when the batteries get low the gen will auto start and recharge them and then shut off. Takes it about 3 hours to top them off. More if I'm using a lot of power at the time.

Tomorrow I will be shopping for a TV and buying one. Its the only day I will have free to do it for weeks. That is unless I want to drive my truck to the mall LOL.
