245/40/18 will get you more rubbing issues than a 255/35/18 will. 245/35/18 or 255/35/18 would be better sizes to run.

don't worry about the hubs. if you're worried about your struts, find better springs.

like nhat said you will not want a tall tire like the 245/40/18. I believe someone is on springs and 18x9.5 +38 Grids on a 08+ WRX already with 235's. I think a 18x9 with a 245/35/18 would be a good fit. You will probably need a rear fender roll only. Get some camber bolts if you don't already have some so you can have some camber dialed in. It shouldn't take anything extreme to make it work.
