Question who knows good place for 15K service?

Hey Bay Area techies and other proud owners of WRXs -

my baby just reached 15K in about 7 months, and I am not thrilled about paying $395 at Stevens Creek Auto Imports for them to change my injectors and a bunch of other things that don't need to be changed just yet.

I went to Cartech (previously Cartex) - they charge ~$100 for 15K checkup, but they did not have '02 WRX in their computer system yet, so they could not do the certified service yet. The guy suggested coming back in a month or so.

I do oil changes myself (synthetic only!) ~every 6K, so I am not under any time/miles pressure with this check up.

Does anyone know of any other places that do certified 15K service for reasonable money?

Thanx!
Lev

Also try Bianco Subaru up in Corte Madera.
BTW, Levka, I see you parked on Taravel almost every day like a block from my house. I'm the blonde chick in the wrb wagon, every time I drive past you and try to wave you seem to be looking the other way or distracted with something, lol. Anywho, yah, go check out Bianco, they are awesome.

Hey thanx! they quoted me $85!!!! this is unbelievable.

15k service... basically an oil change and a bunch of inspections. sounds like an expensive oil change.

Um, it should be $24 from Firestone. Or maybe $29 from Precision Auto Care.

What en3d said. You're paying for a lot of stuff they don't actually do. I just took my work van to jiffy lube. The guy said they changed the oil and filter and lubed 12 fittings and checked the levels of all the fluids. I sat there and watched them. They basically changed the oil and the filter. I never saw them lubing any fittings and they checked fluid levels by basically looking through the clear indicators on the reservoirs. Basically you're paying for a $85 oil change.

(edit: good thing I don't pay for the work done on my van.)

I took mine to Ron Price. They have a long list of things they check, plus they change the oil and rotate the tires. Sounds good right? The bill was $200! Yikes! That definatly felt expensive - it reminded me of my bimmer days. If they actually do all the stuff (I wasn't there all day to watch) then maybe it would be worth it. I took it there for the 7500 mile inspection and they found a leaky oil hose on the turbo, so that felt worth while, although it cost less - I think it was around $125. I think if Ron Price had at the least washed my car or replaced my crummy wiper blades (stock - now replaced with Bosch) I would have felt a little better about it.

My $.02

I drove down to Scz subaru, was about $220 but they changed all fluids in the car. Oil/transmission/differentials, put my new plugs in, balanced/rotated tires adjusted the clutch and some other things. All in all I felt it was worth the $$ plus I got a 02' ob 4 door as a free car for the day.
