Angry Subarugenuineparts.com Review/Jamie Thomas

Here is an experience buying from SUbarugenuineparts.com.

I made many offers to try to find a convient way to work this $900 order, but couldn't get Jamie to be helpful on it. I would have been fine to pay the sales tax if they wouldn't allow me the exemption state tax law allows. I have never had a vendor force me to cancel an order just because I made a request of this manner.

You can judge for yourself though. It's just my review.

Nathan

Hello

We will not violate state law on your behalf.

You are not here, standing at our counter, making a purchase.
You are using a WA state company to act on your behalf.

I have explained to you that if your courier is picking the items up here, in WA state, you must pay state tax
....per the laws we are to abide by.

You obviously have an issue with our policies, our rules and regulations.
I am canceling your order, You will be refunded immediately.

You must find your parts elsewhere.

Jamie,

There are a few states who's residence's are exempt from Washington state tax even if the items are placed in will call. It is not state law requiring you to charge me sales tax. You are also not required to sell to me tax exempt, but I would really appreciate it if you would extend me that professional courtesy. The attached document is posted on the Washington States Department of Revenue site as well as a copy of my driver license. http://dor.wa.gov/docs/rules/eta/2014.pdf

"RCW 82.08.0273 provides an exemption from the retail sales tax to certain nonresidents of Washington for purchases of tangible personal property for use outside this state. This statutory exemption is available only to residents of states other than Washington, United States possessions, or Canadian provinces when the jurisdiction does not impose a retail sales tax of three percent or more."

"Eligible nonresidents: As of June 1, 2003, only residents of the following states, possessions, and provinces of Canada qualify:
Alaska Colorado Delaware Montana New Hampshire Oregon"

Can you update me on when the order will be complete?

Thanks,

Nathan Horwath

That's a bummer. It would be nice to see you as company work with your customers differnt needs.

Please process the order. Please place in will call. I can contact the freight company as I said earlier. It will only cost me about $80 this way.

You should not be taxing a shipment to alaska.

Thanks,

Nathan

Item is oversize

Fender liners are also oversize and also must ship in separate boxes

The rest of the items can fit inside of these boxes

Total shipping $249.00

Please advise if you wish to proceed.

Time to use that chain of command! unless she is the boss of the company, just being a manager of one department means there is someone over her. Time to move up the chain.

I would also suggest calling and asking for a supervisor. However, they do not have to give you the tax break. It would be nice if they did, but they aren't required to. His assertion about them having to charge tax if picked up in-State is also wrong as long as it is being shipped out of state. I'd call someone and bitch if for no other reason then his tone and apparent lack of reading the actual law and then trying to use that as an excuse.

They screwed me once too... it was just a set of those clear headlight film overlays, but still sealed the deal on me never ordering from them again. I ordered a few different things and when the box showed up it went right into the garage. I didn't open it right away to check, which was my fault for trusting them I guess. We were short on people at work, so I had been working 12 hour night shifts for about a month...

Anyway, I opened it around a month later when I finally had a few days off and everything I had ordered was in there except the headlight overlays and they even had that item crossed out and a little hand written b/o next to them on the packing receipt. They still charged me for the item so I assumed this meant whoever packed it had not found them, and had back ordered them for me. I waited a little while longer just assuming they would ship when they got them in stock, but they never came. I called about two months after the shipment first arrived and Jamie first didn't believe me, she assumed I was an idiot and told me to recheck the box... then she basically told me there was nothing they were going to do for me anyway, I had waited too long. She also said something along the lines of "We have plenty of those, I don't think we wouldn't have sent that." which to me means she thinks I'm making it up, and that I'm a crook trying to score another set of piddly $15 pieces of film for free... well, I'm not, they weren't in the damn box!

Well, part of it was my fault for not checking right away, but their fault for writing b/o on the shipping receipt which in any other place means that the part will still show up just at a later date. Lots of people have good luck with them, but I've never ordered from them ever again, and never will.

There pricing and cheap shipping on small items have been the only reason I have bought from them in the past. It's lame to get so much attitude when I was going to take care of the whole thing.

All they had to do was put the order in the shipout area and I would have had my freight carrier stop by and pick it up.

Hmm sounds like intelligence meets ignorance. I'm sorry for your aggravation.

Well I can tell you about some companies I had some great experiences with. One was TiC when I ordered my struts. They answered all my questions quickly and concisely. And even went as far as to go over my entire installation and needs to make sure I had every nut and bolt to do the job. Very Cool.

The other company that stands out is Gruppe-S whom I've ordered from a few times. Well I had ordered a set of rear Group N tophats from them. The parts never came and due to some extenuating circumstances it was more than two years (I kid you not) before I was able to call and check on the tophats. It took all of 5 minutes and they had me straightened out and my parts on the way. Also very cool.

Sounds fair to me, if they were shipping directly to you I think it would be different. If Will Call how do they know you aren't using the parts in Washington? I'm sure this has come up before, most companies have reasons for policies. They've either been burned or screwed in the past which ends up ruining it for everyone...

This is not the vendor review forum, so it's getting closed

As far as your assessment of the situation, it seems a bit unfair. You tried to get out of paying tax, she said numerous times you can't, and after about the 5th time repeating herself she canceled the order. Seems within reasonable expectations, and not entirely unfair.

You did say you wouldn't have minded paying tax, but if that we're the case wouldn't you just sorta agree to pay the tax after the second or third email of her telling you she has to charge tax and there is no way around it? While I don't believe it was intentional, this is kinda of a set up for failure situation.

You may repost your story in the subarugenuineparts thread under the vendor review forum.
