Talking New Subie owner in RI

Glad I finally found a New England club page. Anyhoo, I'm picking up my MY01 RS sedan on Tuesday, and I need to put some miles on her. I've only been in the area for 2 mos. and I have no idea where some fun roads are around here. Any ideas? If anyone knows where I can find dirt roads, all the better. Thanks in advance.

The only place I can think of where there are dirt roads would be in Kingstown.

Not much if anything else down the islands way.

I'll be on the island Wed ot Thursday for a meeting. Maybe meet up after that?

Where did you end up getting your '01 from?

KC...I'm getting it from Metro Subaru in Fall River. Kinda ticking me off, though, because they say Mass. doesn't have temp. plates? Seems kinda strange to me. End result...I pay for it Monday, take it home Tuesday.

Wouldn't mind meeting up if I'm not in class or on watch. You have any idea when you'll be free?

Metro is 2 blocks away from my house.

Yeah, MA doesn't have temp plates. MA has a different view point on car registration and violations than the rest of the 50 states. And you live in RI so it would be pointless anyways.

I'll let you know... I'm waiting on a call from my boss as to when the meeting is going to be (wed/thurs).

Give me a call when you come to pay the bill tonight, I can speed right up there. Tomorrow night I won't be around.

KC...sorry, I would have called, but I didn't read your post until about an hour or two after I got home from the dealer. Anyone know why it takes 3 hours just buy a car?

I'm going up there tomorrow around 5:30 - 6:30 to pick up my baby. I took her for a spin tonight, still had the plastic on the seats and that sticky white film stuff on the body. It was sitting there right by the front door when I pulled and when I saw it, I just smiled like fool in love. Walked over to her and said, "My baby."

I can't believe how short the clutch travel is compared to my Jetta. I just know this car is going to be a blast. And oh my God...when let the engine breath a little pulling onto the expressway...what beautiful music. Now I know why the stock stereo isn't much to speak of; you don't need it!

So what color are you getting and 2dr or 4 dr.

Congrats by the way. One suggestion, they pull that white covering stuff off, and the paint does not seem sticky. But after about a month, my wing and hood vents looked like the clear coat was coming off, but it was the sticky residue picking up crap. I would wash and wax your car right away. It would also be a good way to check if the car has any dents or dings. Go over it with a fine tooth comb before you take it off the lot.

Godd luck man, and hoep to see you in a few weeks at NESIC Meet #6.

Paul...
Thanks for the suggestions. And she's a silver sedan 5spd (of course).

Actually right now I'm sitting at home, waiting until I can pick it up at 5. They're now installing the only option I ordered, the armrest extension.
