So I've been researching this for a decent while now and only seem to come up with swaps into WRX's. I am curious as to putting a v7 EJ207 into my 04 STi for reasons that are irrelevant to this thread.
What I have now: A perfect running 2004 STi with stock EJ257. My questions that have gone unanswered after searching are these: EJ257 is throttle by wire - v7 EJ207 is NOT. Solution? Will AVCS work on stock USDM STi harness with v7 EJ207? I assume so since the car already has AVCS. Essentially I want to leave everything alone (ECU, drivetrain, etc) and wiring. This leaves me with the only issue of throttle by wire vs throttle cable. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated (productive responses only if that's not too much of a request )

you know, I was about to give some answers untill I read this
this means you didn't search dick... so try harder, because your conclusion is wrong, since JDM ECU is 5 pin and USDM is 4 |

Thanks for the help I guess? ![]() Update: Found that USDM WRX and JDM STi ECU's are interchangeable. USDM STi is not interchangeable with UDSM WRX or JDM Last edited by STepeci; 09-14-2009 at 01:09 PM. |

I went the other way with the EJ257 block on my 2002 ej207 heads and all seems to have gone relatively well, although i am still tracking down some timing issues.
I can tell you there are serious differences in the AVCSs although not this might not be a show stopper. The spacing is different with the sensors, the US engines have exhaust cam sensor(s) whereas my ero ej207 has only intake cam sensors, and overall i find this system to be very picky. I would say it seems like alot of work ie switching the harness and computer. |

wait....
Let me just stop you for a sec, so you have a PERFECTLY running 04 USDM Ej257 & You want to put an V7 EJ207 in it..... awwwwwww WHY? Ya i get it, forged internals, higher rev, but the trouble you're looking at is more than it worth. Honestly, you have a great engine, and unless you have damaged it, why would you want do this? fake edit: If you're thinking hey i'll sell my EJ257, buy an EJ207 THEN mod it.... well thats on you, as far as the DBW....it should come with the engine, you'll just need a new pedal and throttle cable. I still think this is a silly ideal, just save your money and run forged internals, the EJ25 is a great platform, who needs to rev to 8K when your stock turbo can't make any power up there anyway. 2cents. |
