Nothing like being 160+ miles from home and having your up-pipe snap at the EWG Flange.

Im going to try and limp home the EWG flange is dangling, i might try metal tape and coat hanger.

Its not idling very well. We will see how it starts in a few minutes ill be heading home later this afternoon.

Its a grimmmspeed 38 Ewg upipe.

Well it was clean snapped off between the upipe and Wastegate flange once I started looking into to rigging it to get home.

The remainder got wedged between my trans,Dp and braces. It made mince meat out of my Front passenger axle. I was able to fish the gate and dump tube out and limp home on an open upipe.

Now I have to decide whether or not I am going to buy another grimmspeed pipe. This is the second product of theirs that I have had FAIL. My options are limited.

I think I need a new wastegate, upipe and axle due to inner boot damage.
I am thinking of just storing it until I can think through my options. My turbo is setup for an EWG.. so... Options are buy another Grimmspeed 38mm EWG upipe (have it snap in another two years) and possibly a gate.. or some other brand and go w/ a 44mm gate.. or say **** IT and go with an ATP 3076 EWG turbo or rotated and sell my current setup sans upipe.

What say you?!?

Throw as much money towards it as possible.

Can a new Grimmspeed uppipe be reinforced with a gusset or something to make it not fail in two years? Get two and keep one in the trunk.

I'm very sorry for the problem you had with our pipe. Since we put a support bracket for the ewg pipe we've had almost zero problems with it. Our original design did not have the bracket but it was added shortly there after. Could you please send a couple pics to sales@grimmspeed.com so we can check them out.

Also, we can warranty it out so you won't have to purchase a new one.

B-dubs Novi meet next week Tuesday or Thursday? Skiing on Wednesday nights keeps me away from the Emory meets. I haven't seen the west side people in forever. Justin, Steph, Leo, Myk, Ryan, Gew, Gewnior, others....you guys up for it?

I can't make either night next week. I have a meeting in Utica on Tuesday and class on Thursday. Maybe a Sunday or Saturday meet. I know Gew is only home on weekends as well. Might I suggest maybe instead of going to a bar we could go bowling. We can still drink but i think it would be more social that eating dinner.
