I have a mask that hides all the hair. I actually said hi to you a couple times last night, but you clearly weren't paying attention.

Tomorrow I'll be showing up with a small crowd around 3:00, and we'll probably stay until around 9. I'll throw a snowball at you if I see you, maybe that'll get your attention.

I was in deep concentration playing with that toboggan last night. Or it could have been my headphones and music and I simply didn't hear you . One more week of training and then I take the test. Then I'll have a lot more time to ski.

Haha, thats no worry. I actually came up behind you on lift 6 when you were taking the toboggan up the lift....said hi again.....called you deaf rather loudly, and gave up.

Ok, so I spent all of Friday keeping an eye out for those orange skis. Didn't find you at all .

I also thought Scott was coming out sometime this weekend after the "Giggity" text message I received. Did you make it out there?

I'm looking forward to more snow this week!

Friday I was there from 3-10. I mainly stick around lifts 5-7. Had a little bit of fun on the terrain park before that girl went through the fence. If we get some snow, I'm blowing off my schoolwork (again) and I'll be there pretty nmuch all day Wednesday.

Damn. I think I gave up looking for you around 9pm. My foot was hurting and I went inside and quit skiing for the rest of the evening. I didn't go home 'til 1AM though .

I brought gear so I can head out tonight. We'll see if I'm able to make it up there tomorrow night. We're supposed to get a lot of crazy snow. I have a feeling the roads and traffic are going to prevent me from making the drive.

Sooooo........

Sounds like the Emory meets are pretty much dead. East-side crowd just can't keep things going and the old-school crowd isn't really close enough to attend. Anyone interested in moving the meets back to Novi? Want to head back to B-dubs? Want to try a new venue? What night of the week would you prefer?

The opther east side crowd (ESSO) is still going strong. 8-10 usually show up.

I'd treck out to Novi if we find some descent food. The food at BWW and Hooters is so bad,.. it's not worth crossing thestreet, let alone an hour round trip. There's got to be something better out that way. Lucky's was alright,... but we wore it out a bit. Perhaps it will be fresh again for a while?

I assume you mean Bar Louie?

I rather enjoy going to Uptown Grill, especially when the weather is warmer as they have that outdoor patio. Good food, good prices on good beers. But it adds a few minutes to the trip.

Are the ESSO meets still in Mt. Clemens at that ****-hole restaurant with the lack-luster beer menu and the flavorless food? Madison's is it?

Oops. you're right. Bar Louie. The burgers were only served extremely well done,... but still pretty good, and a great value. The hush-puppies were crack addictive.

No. About 4 months ago we moved them to Troy. On the North side of Big Beaver,... about 3/4 mile East of Rochester Rd. The place is called Joe Cool's.

We meet at about 6 pm every other Monday. Jason, myself, Donnie, Scott, Chris (although he just moved out of state), Jamie, Scoobyless Dan and a few others are there regularly, and your roommate Clayton and Kris are there more often than not.

Next meet is this coming Monday, Feb 14th.

EDIT. Meet postponed to 2/21 because of Valentine's Day.

I liked the uptown grill, but maybe an every other week format will make it feel more special and worth the drive.

That's fine with me, or even once a month just so people don't get burned out or run their wallets too thin.

So what day of the week does everyone want to meet? It was originally on Tuesdays for cheap wing night at B-dubs. Wings are no longer cheap and we aren't exactly meeting at B-dubs.

If you want once a week, say the 1st Tuesday or Wednesday or each month @ 6pm? Bar Louie wasn't "bad" for a restaurant. I can get my monthly fried potato fix with cracker tots.

Cracker tots?? Is that some kind of racial slur against us white folk.

Fine, I'll show up and eat my rice cakes.

How about 1st Tuesday of the month we go to Bar Louise and the 3rd Tuesday go to Oishi. this way its not every week and it is different styles of food. I know I would much rather go to Oishi even though it would cost more but can justify the cost if its only once a month. I can't justify eating at B-dubs and the burgers at BL are way overcooked.

What about doing a Saturday morning breakfast meet once a month. That way work and traffic are less likely to get in the way. Meeting friends for breakfast is surely a good way to start off a Saturday morning. We'd just need to find a breakfast location that will seat 10-15 people.

IHOP, Denny's, Bob Evans, Perkin's, Big Boy's, Orginal Pancake House... or Toast in Birmingham.

Oishi does suck. I agree.

And it's true that the burgers on special at Bar Louie are only served extra, extra, extra well done,... but if you order the ones not on special they'll make them correctly for you.

And the crack-tots, beer and everything else is still at a good price.

If someone wants a PILE of sushi cheap,... there's a really good buffet we like on the side of the Star theater just West of 12 mile and Telegraph (a minute from the Telegraph freeway exit on 696/Lodge). It's called Tokyo Buffet. They have everything. Sushi, soups, fish, S&S chicken, shrimp, garlic bread, deserts, ice-cream, Chinese stuff I wouldn't know how to describe, noodles, stir-fry, etc, etc, etc. I think it's $17,... which is quite a bit,.. but not if you're eating Sushi or Sashimi. I can power through $150 worth of that stuff at a Sushi bar.

They serve beer and liquor too.

I was thinking Breakfast Club in Farmington or Commerce, Rebecca's down in Northville, or Toast or The Flytrap in Ferndale. Smaller places with better food. Though if we want to fit a group at one of those places we probably need to be up and ready to eat at 8am.

If people want to be cheap I'm all for Big Boy or Bob Evans.

Oishi sucks? I think its quite good. The sushi is prepared better than anywhere else I've been in metro Detroit. IMO its the most similar to that which I had in Japan. As far as the normal food is concerned Cherry Blossom seems to be closer to traditional flavor and preparation.

You'll never be able to seat more than like 4-5 at Flytrap on a timely manner.

Oishi is meh to me these days.

A saturday breakfast meet would be cool. Once it gets warmer, if we went somewhere in the Ferndale/Royal Oak/B'Ham area, I'd probably even ride my bike. Flytrap... yum. Toast was also decent as I remember. The Original Pancake House would be super tough or super wait to get into, but pretty darn worth it, IMO. Another weekend breakfast/brunch idea would be going to Dim Sum at either Golden Harvest on 12 in Warren or at Shangri La across from Loren, but that's kind of for more adventurous eaters (tripe! chicken feet! taro kor!).

Not really a fan of the Big Boy breakfast buffet though, but I do like some Bob Evans every once in a while.

Tokyo Buffet would be cool (is that the one in the Star Theater?), Fuji Buffet by Oakland Mall on John R also has a ton of sushi and other asian food, and is pretty good by buffet standards.

I'm up for anything as long as it's reasonable decent and not a pain in the butt to get to.
