Congrats on the new gig @ GKN Brad.
Would the PT jerb be the test driver position. I applied for it today.

Hope to get some good help from you guys and meet some of you guys.

Oakos Automotive is local to metro Detroit if you need parts. Not sure if they still do service stuff. Banka's Collision in Detroit is managed by a former Subaru guy who still hangs out with the local crowd. There is also a shop out in Lansing where one of the mechanics is a Subaru guy and hangs out on the local Subaru site (misubie.com).

Give me a shout when you get in. I just took a new job that'll have me up in Auburn Hills starting in a couple weeks. I think there are also the East-Side Subaru meets happening on the same every-other Monday schedule as this meet, but they take place in Troy at Joe Kool's.

Have you been to Redcoat Tavern on Woodward Ave in Royal Oak? Good burgers. You can also try Miller's Bar in Dearborn on Michigan Ave. If you're looking for quick and greasy there is Hunter House in Birmingham or the little burger joint on the corner of 11 Mile and John R in Madison Heights.

I've never had In N Out so I can't compare the taste of their food. But I know Michigan has some of the highest meat standards in the country. The beef you get here is of much higher quality, so you don't have to question what you eat quite so often .

Thanks!

Meet can be moved to whatever night people want. It had been moved to Mondays because it was 2 for 1 pizza night and half off margaritas. With only 3 or 4 people coming on Monday nights recently I don't see any reason to keep it on Mondays if more people would show up on a different week night. Of course with Leo, Justin, Steph, and Briggs seldom making it to a meet I'm not sure there is any reason to keep it in Novi.

If we move it back to Ferndale or up to Royal Oak we might get more of the central and east side folks to show up. The Emory meets were regularly pretty big, though some of those guys make McMoto and I look less engineerdy and more normal. I think a couple of them scared Steve G.

You guys figure out what you'd like to do for meets and I can update the thread title and post #2 with all the info.

I might actually be able to make it sometime if it is out towards Royal Oak, I am in Troy. I don't have a ton of free time with a new six month old and studying for radiology oral boards so the Novi area is a bit of a stretch for me.

Speed Industry is the major AWD dyno in the area, but its a Mustang with questionable calibration these days. Someone put down over 500whp on a dynapack at an old shop (closed up) and only 322whp on the Mustang. My STX prep'd WRX made all of 202hp at Speed Industry while comparably prepared cars were putting down 230-240whp at Pure Tuning. It may be more useful to take an hour drive south to Toledo, OH to Pure Tuning and hop on their Mustang instead.

Got ya. Yea i am down to get a tune somewhere else. I guess i sould ask you guys have 93 octane out in Mi right? There are some good shops in my area that i would love to take it to and when i went to talk to them i was worried about the altitude being a problem but they said that not a big deal but they think you guys have 93 octane as where we here in California only have 91

Yes, we have 93 and 91 octane. Most gas stations don't carry 93 octane but its not hard to find. I know of one station that even used to sell race fuel at the pump. I am not sure if they still do.

I do indeed still work there. There are some other good places around here that might be good for a meet, Grand Tavern is right by the Walmart and is pretty good.

So there is 91 out there? is it hard to find or is 93 harder to find? Only reason i am asking is because i will get my car tuned if there is 91 easy to get.

Yes we have 93. There is also 91. We also don't currently require you to have catalytic converters. Altitude around the Detroit area is 600-1000ft above sea level, nothing to worry about unless you're in the mountains now and coming down where there is more air.

What do you use for engine management? If you do opensource stuff there are a couple locals that can retune for you.

Most gas stations around here sell 93 octane. I don't know where you buy gas, but every Mobil, Marathon, BP, Shell, Sunoco, and even the local supermarket gas stations have 93 octane. Its usually just off-brand no-name places and Speedway that sell 91 octane.

See above. You can find both. And as was stated there are a couple local gas stations that have 100 octane and even 110 leaded race gas at the pump. You could also go E85 if you want as there are enough E85 pumps around town too.

Costco here only sells 87 and 93 octane. The 93 was $3.599 today which might be less than you would find 91 for around here at regular stations.

That's one thing I don't miss about CA. I am still in the honeymoon stage for the snow but maybe one day I am going to get tired of it. Any reasons why you are moving to this part of the country?

Well I have lived in the same town from the day I was born and my dream school is U of M. I am tranfering from my JC here to Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills. Then hope to transfer to U of M. I also just kinda wanna get out and see some stuff that the world has to offer lol. I have traveled to almost every state on road trips but I would like to live out of state for a bit and I have friends that are moving out there too.

I also like that everything is cheeper out in Michigan. I hope to go snowboarding a lot more also haha i am a snowboard junky

Then I guess you'll have to join me at the local ski bump. I'm sorry to say we don't have mountains around here. The best you'll find within an hour is Mt. Holly which is all of 300ft, but the chair lift is just as short as the vertical, so you get a lot of laps in.

Hopefully this winter will be a bit better than last, the nearly weekly thaws really put a hurting on the snow quality.

Mt. Holly has done a pretty good job of turning my ski slopes into terrain parks . They actually have two dedicated runs with jumps, boxes, and rails for people to play on (if that's your thing). They also have a couple rail jams during the season. I think at least one of them is sponsored by RedBull. They also hosted a bit of a boarder-cross last year.

It's a bit sad, but happy at the same time. There are no emissions checks in MI. You can run catless and leaded race gas and no one is going to stop you. You might get some funny looks when your car smells funny (or fantastic if you're a racing fan ), but there is nothing currently in the laws to make it illegal.
