ferodo ds2500 brake pads have worked well for me on the street. The ds3000 pads I've heard are quite scary if used as street pads.

Any of you that are really hitting the track, do you switch out your pads? Is anyone using the autocross spec pads? Just curious to see what works in the real world.
I've DD'd Carbotech Bobcats (whatever they've renamed them to these days) and I know Scott has DD'd (is DD'ing?) the AX6 auto-x pad. My roommate occasionally DD's XP10s/XP8s on his 135i. They work for street use between March and October. I wouldn't use them in the winter. They will work for DD, but aren't the best option. It really boils down to what amount of noise and dust you can put up with. And to be fair Ryan is right. Not all results are the same. He DD'd the XP8s with much better results than others have seen. I know he's not the only one too.

Bobcats are no good for track use. I did a 30 minute lapping session at about 50% of what the car could handle and the pedal got soft about 20 minutes in. I think the aforementioned Stoptech Street Performance pads would be a step up in heat capacity, similar torque output, better initial bite, and not crazy for dust. I put them on my girlfriend's car and I like them more than the Bobcats. But again, I wouldn't push them to 100% on the track for safety reasons. Do not consider the Hawk HPS. I've used those as well and they are ****. I took them off the car about a week after buying them. Hawk HP+ would be a decent option, similar to the Carbotech AX6. The Porterfield R4S (I think that's the model) seems to get good reviews in the brakes forum...at least in the past. Not a hugely popular pad.

The DS2500's were on the STi when I over-drove into a corner and bought you a couple new fender liners, new paint job on the bumper, and some detailing? If so, I don't like 'em , though I think that was more a tire and camber issue. And maybe a bit of unfamiliarity with the car and it's limits.

I've been DD'ing the Bobcats, and while I love the stopping power, they are definitely noisy and dusty, and I'm going to try out the Stoptech Street Performance pads as a cheaper alternative.

Not until after we finish removing stuff from boxes and putting it somewhere useful, and manage to get TV and internet service for some sort of entertainment, and get another couch or two for people to sit on, and none of that really starts until after our trip to CO next week.

You wouldn't be the first Lansing person to make the trek! Actually, the drive from Lansing is about as long as the drive up for a few of the folks from Ann Arbor with all the crazy traffic they have to deal with.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if this meet is still kicking. I haven't been to one since I got a new job on the other side of town. I don't know if anyone else has been regularly attending and keeping the meet alive.

doesn't seem like anyone goes these days.

We could have a fix the oil leak on my GTi meet this Saturday. I'll provide some beer and pizza.

Well that's a bummer. I'll be making the trek tomorrow! Getting my timing belt replaced at Oakos then cruising Woodward later on.

If people want to arrange some kind of meet I'm up for it. Been spending most of my time at GM proving ground in Milford. I have no problem swinging by Novi/Commerce/wherever if people want to get together.

Meets had been moved to Uptown Grille, but as I don't think anyone has shown up to a meet since I got a new job back in November, I think we're open for suggestions. I suppose we could go back to B-dubs sometime next week if people will actually show up. Mykrrrrrrrrrr? You want to have an old-balls meet? Leo, do you check this ever...how about you? Justin, Steph, Briggs, Ryan, any of the regulars from years past?

You guys figure something out and I will try to make it out there.

Brad I just realized I never called you back the other day, anyways figure something out for next Monday and I'll meet up with you. Uptown, library pub right around the corner, or cj's brewery right down the street would be cool.
