Exclamation Iziegsx-Autocross build-2001 JDM Sti June built!

Hello all,

My name is Ian i live in the Cayman Islands (Caribbean Island for those who do not know). This is my 2001 STI which has a fully built Jun stroker. Below is the parts list of whats on the car currently.

Autox'ing in the Cayman Islands- There are only two classes-

Street Tire class; Pretty much you can run any street tire 140 tread ware and above. RWD, AWD, FWD class wins are awarded depending on your drive train ofcourse.

Unlimited Tire class; Only Toyo R888 (Sponsored tire event)

In each class the list of mods you can do to your car are endless. As long as you have the correct tires.

I've raced in every event this season in the RWD class Street Tire section. (currently i am on point to win the championship but i doubt it will happen as i sold my skyline and pretty much got this new car.)

I am merely prepping this car for Next season which starts February 2010. I would like to have the car semi ready for Novembers event that way i could get a feel of what its like (fingers crossed)

The engine in the car is currently taken apart. I will be having it put back together soon just gotta order a new head gasket. I will occasionally update this thread with pictures and ask for advice from some of the pros.

Thanks for looking guys Critique!

So i have decided that i am going to upgrade my stock suspension to BC racing BR series coilover set up reason being is i am getting a pretty good deal on them locally

What sway bars should i upgrade to?

I was told whiteline adjustable sways are pretty good. 27-29mm adjustable front bar and the 22-24-26mm adjustable rear bar.

Anti-Lift kit?

Ive heard that the Whiteline kit does it for just about everyone. Can anyone provide feedback.

Thanks guys.

Ive been using CLICK HERE to help me with choosing my suspension upgrades. I am currently waiting on word back on what spring rates the BC BR series come with so that i can make a decision on sways.

All of my parts are in my trunk so excuse the mess

I am going to cut off the wastegate and weld that area shut. Getting an up pipe which has a vband wastegate section. Reason for me doing this is because where the wastegate is mounted on my HKS manifold it rubs the tire.

Ordered me-

Cosworth rings
Cosworth Headgasket
Arp headstuds

Il take some pictures of the motor rebuild if i can. I want to purchase my GT3076R .63 3" 4 bolt or HTA GT3076R with the same back housing options, 850-1000cc injectors, Rota DPT 17x9.

If all goes well i can participate in my first event end of the month with no suspension mods.

Well it looks like you have power more than covered. But autocross really isn't about power.

Focus on your suspension and driving.

That's the plan man. I'm completing one year of autocross now in my other cars.

I'm hoping to get the suspension mods by Novembers event.

I bet this car is going to rip. Looks likes a really cool project.

The BC BR series should come with 8k/6k springs stock, you could upgrade them to 10/8 for a stiffer setup.
I think the whiteline bars are just fine, might want to get a set of endlinks as well.
The Whiteline anti lift kits are great, it is the main bushing in the front arms and you will get added caster with them as well. They have 3 versions, I assume you will want the race version.
You may also want to consider their roll correction kit. If the car has some miles on it, you may benefit from new ball joints and tie rod ends anyway.

How wide of a tire do they let you run in unlimited? I assume its a R888?
Cant wait to see more pics of the build.

Rick

Edit. Is that a oil pump and water pump sitting in your driver foot well?

There are no restrictions in tire width. As long as you run recommended tire type.

Ill try to take a couple more pics today. Can't wait to run some booooooost! Thanks for the comments man. Greatly appreciated! haha and yes thats an Oil pump in the driver foot well lol.

Will post some pics soon. I had to settle with buying a standard GT3076R and some Power Enterpise 850cc injectors. One of he retainers are damaged and I am having a hard time finding just one Jun Titanium retainer. Sent an email to David@horsepowerfreaks so hopefully he can save me a couple hundred dollars. The entire retainer kit is $700. Hell I'd even pay $100 for just one retainer right now. This is pretty much what's holding me up.

OK so it seems my dude David@horsepowerfreaks.com came through for me and i should have that single retainer i was looking for within the next 2.5 weeks. Should be getting some FIC900cc topfeed injectors next week also. I had to send back the 850cc power Enterprise injectors i received from extremepsi.com because i got the wrong ones. Great customer service as usual. As soon as i receive that retainer the car will be completely assembled and rdy to tune. Im sure there will be other bugs.

I still havent sorted out tires as yet. Im contemplating keeping my volk wheels and just getting a set of dunlops for next season of autocross rather than changing the entire set up to a 17x9 255/40R17 tire set up.

Ok so update time i should have some pictures available. Car should be completely fitted up within the next two days. I will need to get the car tuned so prob wont be driving for another week or so. Cant wait! Im eager to know what the difference in torque is like with the 2.5 vs my jun 2.2 stroker. Anyone got any data on that?

Retainer is here finally dont ask me why its gold i hope that has nothing to do with performance lol

Got my headlights restored they no longer look yellow and nasty. I would like to tint them with some Yellow film though or smoke them. Which would you guys prefer?

Getting my tail lights smoked will post pictures tomorrow of the after result

Progress!

The engine has been like this for the longest while to be honest the only thing different is that the head which housed the bad retainer is now completely torqued down and the cam gears are being installed. Should be inside the car tomorrow but like i said no rush. Feedback on the taillights please.
