Default hillsboro rallyX 9/20

Hey all ~ Is anybody planning on going to the RallyX this Sunday?
http://www.oregonrally.com/Event_Detail.cfm?EventID=578

I'm thinking about going, but it would be my first one. I'm actually nervous about a) sucking and getting lost on the course and; b)destroying the paint (even more) on my new-ish car...

Anyone have any tips/suggestions?

I'll be there. I can't wait; it's been too long since the last one.

Not likely that you'll get lost on the course; generally follow the tracks of the cars before you. Come on down and watch if you're nervous about it. If you come down on early Saturday afternoon, you can help set up the course and get some idea how your car will handle the terrain. I'll be there in the blue '97 Impreza wagon having fun.

As stated above, bring it down. There are plenty of stock cars out there. Actually I think Stock AWD is one of the bigger classes. (you may develop a few new rattles though)
We won't be down for this one though .

Absolutely Not !!!

Do come on down ... there a lots of stock awd cars ... and there are many of us who will happily share and help you whenever we can ...

If you can ... run time only TO in the morning run group ... you can take your time and learn a lot in the 4 runs ... and then you can run in the afternoon in your class ...

riding with others is a great way to learn as well ...

look me up ... red legacy gt sedan ... I run in Prepared AWD ... but will be running TO in a.m.

You need to go down, pay your money, and have fun. I've done it a good number of times (never with a car having more than 120hp) and loved it every time. You get a map and plenty of time to walk the track and see what's going on. tons of great people out there that will answer all your questions. trust me, you'll love it, I was hooked after the parade lap my first time out.

If its your first time, dont be nervous. First of all, you dont need a fast car. I entered my first one 2 years ago with my stock STI and won my division, but a dude in an older impreza wagon kicked my butt with his time. Its more about driving skills than anything.

I did my first one about 2 months ago. I bought an old audi 90 quattro just for the event and fell madly in love with it. I just bought myself a wrx this week just so I could have a daily driver and a rally-x car. Not sure if I'm going to take it out now that I dumped all my cash into it so I might be out in the audi again.

Sure .... a very good coat a wax on your wrx ... makes getting the dirt and mud off so much easier ...

other than that .. just basic car safety ... check all your fluids etc., make sure your battery terminals are covered ... electricians tape works ... and that the battery is secured tightly ... make sure wheels are torqued down correctly and tight ...

... you'll need to take everything out of the car for safety ... so the less you pack ... the less you'll have to remove ... whatever you do bring ... make sure you have containers for the stuff as wherever you park along with the rest of us ... is where you leave all your goodies ... this is where they stay until we're done .... the containers keep your stuff dry ... dust and dirt free for the most part as well ...

a good tire guage ... doesn't hurt to bump up tire pressures over normal .. esp. fronts, to reduce risk of popping a tire off the bead .. Black Sun ... our support vendor .. is almost always at all events and can quickly take care of that should it happen ....

let's see ... what else ...$$ for registration, a smile, a sense of humor ... and come have FUN !!!!!

It's a ton of fun, trust me. i've been the director for the last 2 years and it's been a blast. well most of the time.

in case you all haven't heard, i've moved to boise, idaho so there will be someone else running the events from now on. i'll be back out to instruct and help with the October Primitive rallyschool/ORG rallycross then it's off into the sunset for me.

It'll be nice to see you all at least one more time!
