I should post some pics of my quad 05s. They're crazy bright.

I've been trying to get a fog retro done in my Denali for a while. I'm using these little tiny P1 Universal projectors that you can get off of ebay for about $50.00. They actually have a decent output, especially considering their small size. The problem with most retro's is not enough room for the projector. These are so small, I had too much room, and thus a lot of extra, unused "gap" space that just looked silly.

I am using an aftermarket Denali fog light housing. The little projector comes with a mounting bracket, but in this case it fits exactly into the existing bracket on this housing. Mounting was no issue, but as you can see there is all this space between the projector and the housing that just doesn't look right.

So, my quest to fill the space began.

Sonny let me have a couple shrouds he had lying around to try them. They almost fit, but were just too big enough not to work.

Off to Lowe's I went, bored son in tow, to wander the aisles. I came upon these 3"x2" rubber couplers that are even shaped like a headlight housing, and kinda went "hmmmmmm." $15 later, I was out the door and back home to check this out. The projector fits like it's made to go in one of these, and better yet, the 3" end fit perfectly around the edge of my housing! Aha!

I had to cut a couple of notches out of the rubber to access the adjustment screws, and used some JB Weld to attach the coupling semi-permanently to the housing. I can buy a 2" cap or plug to seal the end up, I just have to cut another little notch for the wires. And here's one of the finished lights:

I think it looks a thousand times better than leaving that gap space open, and it's pretty functional to keep the inside clean and dry. Obviously I still need to mount to the truck and attach the HID's, but I may wait for the weather to cut me a break before doing that.

These projectors plus the couplers would be an easy mod for anyone wanting that extra light.

Thanks for the ideas, Sonny!

I can't wait to see these on the truck-great job! I love how you can see the opening for the bulb in the last photo. Post up more pics as you make progress, please!

Here's the finished product. Or as finished as it can get without being installed:

From the right angle, you can see a bit of a gap around the projector. Once I cap off the end, though, that will be basically unnoticeable. I discovered it's very hard to get two projectors centered in the same photo...lol. One is slightly crooked, though. Not sure why and there is little room for adjustment in that direction, so I'm going to be throwing to one side a bit with one of them, which really isn't a bad thing in this case as long as I get full lane coverage from both of them.

JB Welded the coupling to the housing and that was it. Hopefully they stay put. Once I got this figured out, I did the second light in about 30 minutes.

Better shot of one of them:

After seeing the finished pics I really want to see some output shots when you have them adjusted! Must be nice to run your fogs without all that spill and blinding oncoming cars. Great job!

Came out ok. Honestly expected more light, but oh well. Looks pretty good, though.

Looks like a fun project, if a bit tedious.

Sonny, did you get your vacuum table lens forming stuff set up yet? I thought I remembered you were talking about that a while ago. Maybe I'm mistaken. But if you did, I might have a commissioned project for you if you've got the time.

Edit: or at the very least, bounce some idea off of you.
