Angry I can't get that plastic cap? Are you kidding me?

I found out the other day that a platic cap in my engine bay is missing, must have fallen off. I don't know the proper name of it, it must have been about 1" diameter, it's sitting in the front/central area of the engine bay, and I saw in another car that it has a capital 'H' on it. A mechanically more inclined friend told me that the pipe it's on is the high-pressure line of the AC (?), and the valve that the cap normally covers is used to connect a gauge when refilling the AC.

Anyway, I went to the parts department at a dealer today, and the guy there told me that this plactic cap was not available individually, but only as part of the whole assembly! Is this really true? Does anybody know where I could get just the cap? I saw one that looked suspiciously similar on the engine of a Honda. I already asked for the cap at a parts store (AutoZone), and they said they didn't have it.

Otherwise I'll probably just cover that valve with duct tape. Or bring it to the dealer as warranty repair, I don't think the cap should fall off.

I know the cap you are speaking of, I knocked mine off when doing my turboback install....found it later on the ground and put it back on....If I were you I would try an air conditioning shop that works on cars, maybe they will have one laying around or something.

The cap in question, from what you are describing, is the A/C high pressure fitting cap. Any cap from any car will work, R-134a systems all have the same size fittings.

Default He is correct

I checked on my parts lookup system and it does not show the caps seperate. Same is true for the older 2.5s.

73059pa010 is for a 2000 up Legacy. This should work.

Thumbs up

A/C high pressure fitting cap! Great, now at least I know what I'm looking for! Interesting that the same thing for a Legacy would be listed separately, I might check if they have that when I pick up my touch-up paint (don't ask... ). Otherwise I'll try a couple more parts stores, or the parts department at a Honda dealer or something. Thanks everybody for the help!
