On my way back from the HHH last night hit a pothole on Dairy Ashford and it ripped my my sidewall on a tire...so I figure these guys have 25k on them, might as well get new tires.
Was looking at those new Sumitomo HTR Z IIs... and was wondering if the 235/40r would give me trouble rubbing and what not, and would fit on my rota formels, which are 7.5". Im on a stock suspension, but looking at something stiffer and a hair lower when I can afford it. And Im not against rolling my fenders if I have to.

I think they will fit just fine. I have 17x7s and I just put 225-45s on. They have no over buldge and fit fairly flush with the rims.
I'm not sure about rolling your fenders though.....if you go any bigger then that you'll most definitely have to do so but you might be able to get away without having to do that with the 235s. |

I have 18x8 +35 w/ 235/40/18 and mine rub a little on the back but with a simple fender roll it should be fine.

I have 245/35/18 on my car with a +35 offset and no rubbing.
This is on Eibachs and KYB AGX's. Fenders are rolled, but I don't think it really needed it. Fenders were rolled WAY before those wheels/tires went on. |

Depending on if the tires run wide or narrow, the tires may be too wide for the wheels. I used to run 235s (although they did run very wide) on my 8.5s and it was a very good feel. I have a feeling the 235s will be detrimental to your handling/feel on 7.5" wide wheels.

Remember that he is driving a wagon which does not have near as much room for tire.
Basically, without extensive fender rolling and a lot of "daayyyuum, yo" camber, it's tough to fit anything wider than a 235 width tire. Even some of the wider 235's rub. I'd stick with a 225 width tire just to avoid a fitment issues and not have to worry about them bulging on the 7.5" wheel. |

235's on 7.5 shouldn't be too bad unless you have another less than +35 offset.
i use to run 235 40 17 on 17x7 advan rc's on my 93 impreza wagon. I had to roll my fenders a little but the handling was not bad at all. the tread was wider than the rim but the feel and response was still crisp because of the low profile. not sure what size your rota formels are but if you want, i have a set of brand new Goodyear Eagle f1's 235 40 17's ![]() |

I had 7.5's and 235's for 6 months and I thought they were fine bc I dont normally ride with anyone in the back seat. Then I drove with 4 dudes and hit a speed bump. I was like wtf was that!?!
Anyways a little rolling should make it fit fine, even loaded and on bumps. |
