Default Pikes Peak

This year the scca pro rally is going to be at pikes peak during the "hill climb" week. Discount rooms can be had at the Black Bear Inn in Cascade if you mention "randy" and the scca pro rally...they are waiting! 1 877 732 5232 and ask for Kevin or Suzie

------------ PIGGYBACKED MESSAGE FROM MODERATOR -------------

URGENT NOTE 5/29/02: EXCITING NEWS! Stay tuned for posts soon that I will make about an official Subaru event at the Pikes Peak International Hill climb "exclusively for i-club members".

Subaru wants to honor the i-club and recognize the enthusiasts there. It will be held at Heuberger Motors Subaru Dealer on Motor City Drive (15th largest in nation) not far from the hill climb. I'll need RSVP's (for up to 50-100 people I believe). Starting 6/28/02 approximately 3-4pm till about 9pm the Friday before the Hill Climb.

More details to follow next week because the dealership's owner (Gunnar Heuberger) is at the National Dealer's Convention in Chicago till the 6th. Then I meet with him again. He called me on my cell phone from the road on his way. He is helping set this up.

They need a high res logo from i-club asap for donating all the FREE T-shirts which will also have the Subaru Rally Team Logo on them. I emailed Nick already.

They'll have a catered dinner, (likely a nice BBQ) in the used car lot & will empty the lot to make room for all of us.

There will be a Car Show with Prizes with likely classes being (1) Wrx (2) Non-wrx:
Some Categories will include:
Best looking
Best mods
Best stereo
Farthest drive
Hard Luck award
Oldest subaru
And more...

Freebies include:
Food
Free I-club/Subaru Rally team t-shirts
Rally team USA hats
WRX steering wheel Keychains

We'll Tour the Rally Team USA truck & sit in the cars, with Heuberger's 22B out for show. No rides due to liability & not all street legal. Typically the truck is sealed & off limits!

Larry

PS: the car show will not be used to void warrantees

DON'T FORGET TO RSVP TO ME BY CLICKING THE EMAIL LINK, NOT A PM. INCLUDING A CELL PHONE NUMBER MIGHT HELP.

I'll be there, though I don't think I'm gonna need a room.

We got a crew of about 6-7 coming from Omaha that I know of. We will be staying somewhere as most are punks and can't handle camping... pansies.

Hey Jon, when are you guys heading out there? I think that I will be leaving on Thurs. Maybe we could all travel out there in a pack? I also think that it would be interesting to have a mini meet while we are all there. Sorry I haven't pm'd you the number for 6gear yet, I lost it. I'll get it too you as soon as I can.

punks and pansies huh, wow, didnt know you liked to camp so much. guess when you get a slow grocery getter, camping comes with it are we up to 6-7 already, wow, getting up there i guess. weedy, we are leaving friday morning early, so no problem if you want to get in line with us. anymore of sixth gear guys coming??? we had somewhat of a mini meet last year, but it takes one of the CO guys to head it up to make sure everything gets taken care of. maybe we need to make this a sticky so everyone will see it. just over a month away everyone, lets get something put together.

Kevin, no none of the guys from 6 Gear are going. I am just going out there to go to the rally, and to visit a friend of mine that lives there. Where should we meet on Fri. so that we can travel in a pack? Oh and just for a small note, I have a good route to Co. Springs that lets us avoid all of the Denver traffic.

well, i would guess since you are in lincoln, that maybe at the gas station on 27th and i-80 would be a good place. i also have to check with my mom before leaving since that is where my wife is going while i am at the race, unfortunately she lives in loveland, which is north of denver. i am going to try and get her to meet me out aways so that we can take the more direct route to the springs. i'll let you know.

Sounds like we'll be in Friday. For the Race Sat. and will be hanging out in the Springs or somewhere on Sunday... Sunday would be a good day for a meet.. any auto-xes that weekend?

Yeah, but if we did stop off in Loveland, we could take a long trip on highway 34 from there to Estes Park... great section of road. Would take a bit longer, but would be blast in a subaru caravan. Looks like I'll be riding with someone as there is a few driver's and not that many attendees. We've got Kevin's Explorer, Brett wants to drive seperate, Matt does as well and well Hunter has a Miata so he can't ride with us heck Kevin you should bring the RS, since there will only be 3 in your car.

Default My apoligies...

Sorry guys, I wasn't sure about my upipe install untill my friend reminded me about it. Looks like I will be leaving Thurs. night. Jon or Kevin, let me know if you would like to contact me when you get into town on Fri. I will most likely be at Suby Sports for most of the day. I think that you guys would like to see this shop! I have heard great things about it from many people. Also, maybe we could all meet at the same location for the rally! See ya there hopefully...

Cool. You know we've got a local subaru guy who does all kinds of installs and usually for a bit less than most shops, just an FYI.

SubySports is cool. Stopped by there last year during Pike's Peak.

I might go by there again this year and see if he's got any good deals while I'm in the shop.

The Colorado Springs airport is the closest. Probably 30 minute drive to start of Pikes Peak Road. It is not hard to get to at all.

Default You can see Pikes Peak summit from the airport

The summit of Pikes Peak is only 18 air miles west of the Airport.

I'm sure the Colorado folks would be willing to help a traveler. Some of the folks here live there in Colorado Spgs.

Thinking of watching the hill climb, or bringing a car ?
