Default Raptor S/C for non-turbo 2.5L

Saw this on RS25.com and thought some of you sport guys would be interested.
Quote:
It's been a long time in development but it is now ready to unveil. Group A, in conjunction with Raptor Super Chargers in Australia, are proud to present the first ever complete super charger kit for the NA Subaru.

This is a complete kit that comes with everything you need. It is an easy install and will finally let us NA guys compete with the likes of the WRX people.

The first 10 kits are almost complete and will be ready to ship for the first or second week of October, 2009

We are currently taking deposits for the people that want to be first in line for this exciting kit.

The cost of the kit is $3850.00 CND (Plus shipping)

The price of the kit MAY be lower when ready to ship, it will not be more.

Each kit will come with:
1) Newly designed quieter charger
2) By Pass Valve
3) 3 X Silicone 90's
4) Silicone Coupler
5) Oil Catch Can
6) Gates Belt
7) Cone Air Filter
8) Charger Bracket
9) Bracket Stay for both GC and GD body styles
10) Flat Idler
11) Grooved Idler
12) 6 PSI Pulley
13) Charge Pipe
14) Moristech Pro Sequential Engine Management
15) All hoses, clamps, connectors, etc

You can add the following optional parts:
1) 3 PSI Pulley
2) Lightweight Crank Pulley
3) Lightweight Alternator Pulley
4) Lightweight Power Steering Pulley

Right now the kits will only fit a MAP based 2.x NA Subaru engine. MAF based kits will be ready next followed by the kits that will fit the newer 2.5i engines.

If you own an 04 with the plastic manifold please be aware that you will have to replace the manifold with an aluminum one. Ask us about this as we have some spares in our shop if you are needing one.

Yeah, I've been eying this for a while. I'm going to wait and see how the system works over here in North America. I saw all the videos of the install and test runs. The kit seems pretty complete. And I wouldn't mind slapping that on for high speed off roading. I can see this benefiting those who do a lot of sand driving and I'm sure the added low end torque will benefit the off road guys.

I wouldn't have dreamed of doing this when I bought the Baja - and she's still WAY LOW miles for me to be playing with her like that.

But I gotta admit, it sounds tempting...

at 50k (or is it 60k) when the powertrain warranty is gone....I'm going to give this some serious thought. By then I will be able to see if this is going to work or just blow HG's.

Is there a year limit on that powertrain warranty?

I'm ALMOST out of the 3 year base warranty on time (though I still have about 5 thousand miles left)

A lot of guys over on RS25.com have been installing these on 2.5 liter engines without any HG issues so far. But only time will tell what long term impacts occur I guess.

There are some awesome vids of Imprezas with these installed. I just love the SC sound. Mmmmmm...

I wonder if it throws a CEL code though. Here in PA that is insta-fail for emissions.

Also I don't know claim to be an expert but I do know a few things and I am not sure I like the idea of it being forced induction all the time. There is one SC car that I can think of that uses a vac flap to allow pressure to be induced to the engine but at idle or no load the SC doesn't force pressure into the motor (longevity maybe?)

I love the idea don't get me wrong but I'm not sold....yet.

Supercharging at low RPM isn't really do anything more than those CAI that all of you put on your cars. SCs just do it effectively.

SCs have been used throughout the history of the automobile very effectively and without durability issues.
