Talking MAIC OTters: Help me get to Virginia Beach.

Wife and I are driving down from NJ to visit my cousin who is stationed there. I'm just not sure if it's better to take 95 south and then head east to VA Beach, or if I should drive down Delaware and Maryland and cross the bridge on Rt. 13 into VA Beach.

Tell me the secrets of the vast state of Prodnia.

i always stay away from 95

the drive on the eastern shore will make you want to rip yoar eyes out from boredom but it is better than counting how miles am i backed up on 95

the bridge is different if you havent been on it. really nice when you get to drive under a navy vessel.

i've driven down to va beach quite a bit from NY. I've found that taking 13 is the best route. I will say this though, it gets down to a 30mph speed limit sometimes, but being that your going through hickland usa, it only last for a few mins.

13. G0g0g0. Plus you get to drive on the 14 mile bridge/tunnel. Kinda cool (after you pay $1273987213987129837129837918237981273612376123.25 )

I've finally really rung NJSwampland's bell. Myself and a few others have been pointing him, one point at a time, constantly over the last several days. He's now close to a TO.

He's been a good sport. But now he's just angry and doesn't want to play any more.

Truckers tend to prefer Rand McNally.com maps and use the practical route.

Never been there. My cousin is a dentist in the Navy, being trained to do crazy reconstructive surgery. Haven't seen her in a year, so a bunch of us are heading down to hang for Columbus Day weekend.

(no really. don't. the cops will pull you over if they see your car more than twice in a certain timespan.)

I lived there for a short period of time. It's not too bad, especially if you're only there for a weekend.

Strider, back in '07 my gf at the time and I drove down from E.B. and with getting a little lost took us just over 5 hours. I took the turnpike down all the way to 1, and I think I stayed on 95. We left early in the morning and never hit traffic. It's a nice drive, and that long ass chesapeake bay bridge is almost as long as long cat.

I moved there in '03 from upstate New York. Graduated in 2005. I live in Edison, but am in E.B. all the time for work and friends. Along with Old Bridge for my other job.

Definitely take 13 down. I've lived here 20 years and it really is the best way to get to Jersey. (or the Poconos) I don't find the drive boring at all. A lot easier to stop somewhere to eat, get gas or stretch your legs than looking for a rest area or exit.
